i've lived on potrero hill for many, many years. i'm very concerned about the density proposed by the developer of the power plant site. if built, this is definitely going to be significant urbanization of a scale that i believe is incompatible with the infrastructure that is proposed and with the neighborhood itself. the character of the future of the city is at stake. that's to say our quality of life. that's why it's so important to be clearheaded about the effects of projects like this one is the city willing to address the consequences of such dense development at this site? with the hospital, the warriors arena and pier 70 so near, i think we're headed for real trouble if major improvements are not made to the infrastructure prior to development at this site. when compared with the city of san francisco, the power plant project would be about double average density of the city of san francisco. with a proposed density of plus or minus 10,000 people, by the way, that is inadequately calculated using old standards -- over 21 acr

i'm peter lindenfall, and i director the potrero hill rehabilitation project. i just want to emphasize the importance of the preserving the brick buildings on this site, particularly station a, the gas house, the gas meter shop, and the gas compressor building. a lot of these buildings are unfamiliar with people principally because you can't see them. they're fenced off at the moment by -- excuse me, by pg&e fencing. i've taken one picture of the north end of station a, and you can only see parts of the gate house, gas meter shop and gas compressor building. there's been a lot of talk about maintaining the industrial feeling of the neighborhood, and because of that, i think it would be crazy to take any of these down. i mean, using industrial materials would be no substitute for saving buildings that actually are part of the historic fabric of the neighborhood and are very beautiful. thank you very much. >> president wolfram: thank you very much. does any other member of the public wish to comment on this item? seeing and hearing none, we'll close public commen

past week, we had bayview ignites for the second year, where school staff from our bayview and potrero hill schools participated in a three day community building and learning experience to strengthen the foundation needed to serve our students and families in the community, and just yesterday, over 1,000 staff members attended digital district day. [applause] >> i look forward, and i'm sure all of you do to welcoming our students back on monday. i would like to update the public on where we are with staffing. we are currently 96% staffed, and we are working rapidly to fill the vacancies. we've filled over 800 certified positions this summer. our human resources department in partnership with school leaders and with lead is hard at work to ensure that our remaining vacancies are staffed with high quality candidates. this summer, our district facilities division has been working hard to ensure that all schools are clean, safe, and ready for instruction by monday. i want to share some of the highlights we have. custodial services has completed deep cleaning at all sites. all of our custodians

strongly encourage the developer to consider views from both the immediate street level and from potrero hilla number of neighbors are raising concerns that the proposed 300 foot tower would greatly diminish the iconic nature of the stack. while we recognize that costs and the ability to provide a comprehensive package of community benefits are crucial to the success of the project, we would like to see the density and design of the project better compliment that of pier 70. open spaces should be reimagined to provide more varied use with gathering spaces as well as programmed areas. interior open spaces need to be oriented from north to south, to take advantage of sunlight. and we need more open space, please, particularly along the bayfront. an area that done well could provide a tremendous public benefit. finally, let me step back and say that both the developer and planning department have been fantastic on communication with us. and we look forward to a continuing dialogue with them and you as the project evolves. thank you. >> president hillis: thank you. next speaker, please. >> hello,
