we saw this with the harry potter films, we saw this with twilight. it's happened with the hunger games. the hobbit was originally 2 movies turned into 3. with divergent i think it's a slightly different thing we're looking at. a lot of people when they heard the news were like greed has struck again. in hollywood, they're going to milk this for every dollar they can. but that's the point. they are going to milk this for every dollar that they can because they have to. this seems to be a decision i think more borne out of panic than greed because the first film, divergent which is still currently in theaters, just started its overseas run. it's not doing as well as these other films that we've talked about. it's probably going to get close to breaking even on the first one. a few weeks ago we talked about how lions gate has made this direction into being the new franchise king. they're going to play with the big boys in hollywood because of hunger games and now we have this situation where the first film out of the gate is not what they thought it was
