and there's a little sleet mixed in here in pottstown. as you look at this parking lot, there's a considerable dusting of snow in some parts and then just kind of a slushy accumulation slippery in others. as we swing the camera around i'm going to walk over here to east high street. it's where we've been for the last hour and a half or so. you can see east high street is pretty clear of any accumulation. the plows have been out. they have not been plowing or salting the surfaces. i've been watching just kind of out, patrolling monitoring the area. but the main stretches for the most part are pretty good. if i just walk over here this is a sidewalk. it kind of blepdnds in with the grassy surface. this is the sidewalk. i would say barely a quarter inch. i'm going to get out my ruler in the next half hour because i think we might be able to show you some accumulation. for the most part here the snow is falling at a pretty slow moderate speed. the flakes are not as big. it's mixing in with sleet a little bit. the temperature is dropping, and

pottstown, 29. 31 in reading. for these locations, temperatures below freezing you want to be careful with icy spots because we did see a lot of snow melt yesterday. but our temperatures dropped low enough where they could refreeze and cause slick spots on the sidewalks. some of the parking lots and side streets. 34 degrees right now for philadelphia. 32 in wilmington. 30 in mount holly. 30 in atlantic city. heading throughout the rest of the day, temperatures won't be quite as warm as yesterday but close to average. here's the system to head our way. you can see it moving into parts of cincinnati, st. louis and now it will continue to move towards us heading into the morning hours. it won't get here until 2:00 to 3:00. you will notice the widespread rainfall heading home from work. we'll even see pockets of moderate rainfall near wilmington right around 6:00 p.m. then the rain continues all night and then after midnight we'll start to see it tapering off leading to mostly cloudy skies heading into your wednesday.

you can see the difference between just pottstown, philadelphia. 47 in pottstown. 58 in philly. 48 in reading. the reason? southerly winds are on this side. northeast winds here. they come together right there. no wind in wilmington, while we have a 25-mile-an-hour wind in dover. in the same state. that's pretty weird. now, you can see this area of rain coming in through chester county delaware county new castle county montgomery bucks, berks, lehigh, but this is the rain/snow line. and it is north of allentown. you see down here. it has a ways to go before it gets down even to the lehigh valley. it's going to take a little while. the temperature's going down. already fairly cold. but by 8:00 we're down into the mid-30s even in doylestown. northeast philly, 38. rnl, we're in the upper 50s now. that's a 20-degree drop. once that wind shift comes down here, you'll see the temperature go down fast. you may see some pretty heavy rain right along that boundary. and then headed toward the shore by 9:00 as the rain tapers off, but the temperatures are way lower. down in the 30s. so keep the

this is a problem north of reading on 222 nearly a town, pottstown, north on route 100 you're dealing there. allentown you're getting that freezing rain and quakertown so be careful as you're traveling in easton and areas to the northwest it's still that freezing rain. the rest of us are just dealing with some rain at times right here as you can see on storm tracker 6 live 3-d. so we're dealing with some rain at times but you see it's a big system. it's going to change over to snow later on tonight and that's the problem. let's look at the temperatures right now where you are hovering right around that freezing mark in martin's creek, 33 pottstown but still could be ice pellets mixing in. 35 in center city so it will be just rain right there. 35 in browns mills. already 40 in parts of south jersey and dover delaware so that's that sign that warmer air is coming as that warm front lifts through we've got some fog to deal with. half a mile visibility in atlantic city and we're looking at 1.5-mile visibility in reading about 5 miles at philadelphia international airport. so, you have the

only 37 in quakertown and doylestown. 38 in pottstown. some of these places could see snow in the next couple of hours. 45 in northeast philly. 47 in kennettt square. 40 in trenton. need the winter coats tonight. but not so far in delaware or south jersey. it is cold right by the ocean, but in delaware we've still got some places in the 60s. well, the difference, it's because of this. got a front. we've got southerly winds, northerly winds. a classic, classic wind shift here. north winds all in pennsylvania. south winds coming up. that helps cause the rain and the snow with 20-mile-an-hour wind in philadelphia and as that front comes down, the temperature drops sharply. so we have the rain moving through the area. the snow getting a little closer. but it's not as big an area of snow as it was hours ago. we still have some heavier rain in maryland about to move into delaware. we now have the snow down toward allentown. one place is central pennsylvania. not too far from penn state. they've had 8 inches of snow today. it's been quite a bit.

from pottstown to philadelphia to millville, look at this.this large area of pink is the freezing rain that is likely to push in during the evening hours. you can see at 5:00 we are right on the edge of that in philadelphia, but the potential for some freezing rain is making for an icy commute in wilmington pottstown will be on the edge and reading will see the freezing rain. eventually, we are warming in the atmosphere to push the freezing rain to the north. that's by 7:00 this evening. that's just plain rain for south jersey and for delaware. while the freezing rain continues farther to the north and west. we've got some messy travel ahead. this morning, though it will be dry. it's this afternoon, the snow and ice will develop. temperatures are climbing into the upper 20s to lower 30s. but they will be dropping as soon as that precipitation starts moving in. we'll talk about it when i come back in ten. >>> ten minutes after 4:00. jillian mele is standing by now, bill warned us about the drive this evening and how it could be a mess. >> we'l
