so close to christmas too having this happen is a tragic morning here pottstown. been talking with some residents that describe escaping this fire. twin last 30 minutes we saw the coroner show up at the scene. building behind that fire truck this is where it happened just after 1:15 this morning. not a whole lot of damage to the exterior, a lot of damage on the inside second and third floor. firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the second floor of this building when the call came in. there was a report initially of someone being trapped inside. he was found dead. residents told me the victim is a man. others in the building did evacuate safely i spoke with one of them a little bit earlier this morning and here's his account of what happened. >> opened the window. it was. like smelled a whole bunch of smoke. bunch of flashing lights. my girlfriend went into our bathroom and everything just started coming up in smoke. it was crazy. got the little ones out. rushed out of there as fast as possible. >> the red cross is helping carlos, his family and other residents.
