. >>> joining us now is washington democratic congress woman pramila jayapal. it looks like the senate may be on the verge of a final agreement on the infrastructure bill. it's what all the indicators suggest at this hour. what do you make of what you are hearing about this deal, and are you hopeful that congress will be able to pass this soon? >> well, ayman, of course, we're looking forward to seeing the details. we have not seen any details so until we do, it's going to be difficult to say what we think about the deal, but it's an important step. i think that they seem to have come to some sort of an agreement. our focus has been on the reconciliation package. this is the package that contains health care for americans, that contains child care so that women can go back to work t.contains paid leave. it contains real efforts to take on climate change. i mean, these are the things that the american people have heard us promise and need us to deliver on because these are

joining us is washington congress qom pramila jayapal chairman of the progressive caucus, which will have a big role in deciding what kind of deal can pass the house. thank you for seeing you this evening. >> great to see you. >> let's talk about your hesitation about this bill. has it got anything to do with what's in this bill? because we don't really know enough about what's in the re focused on? >> well, as i said in my statement, we don't know what's in the bipartisan bill. so we have to see it. we have to make sure we agree with the provisions that are in the bipartisan bill. and we have to make sure that the reconciliation bill is passed before we will vote on a bipartisan deal. this is something we've said for three months. and it's not just progressives. house speaker nancy pelosi has said the same thing. chuck schumer has said the same thing.

and that would've been the entirety of our infrastructure spending. >> congresswoman pramila jayapal, this is essentially the reaction i was expecting because i assumed that chairman sanders had made sure, before he revealed an agreement of the democrats on his big budget committee, that it would be acceptable, it would be acceptable to you and speaker pelosi. did you have direct communications with chairman sanders, or do you know how chairman sanders made sure that what he was going to reveal would be acceptable? >> senator sanders highland i have been talking every couple of days. our staffs are in very close coordination. but obviously, lawrence, the specifics are not all outlined. so several months ago, we put out five priorities. i communicated those five priorities very clearly to senator centers. i said, this is what we will have to address. a few months ago we said, we will not vote on a bipartisan deal unless this reconciliation package was voted on at the same time. at the time, no one else was saying that. but progressive said that, we whipped our members, the vast majorit
