we had a long intertwined connection with the enoch pratt library library. this library was opened in 1878, just a few years before the enoch pratt library librarysystem was established but then several years later , the enoch pratt library was given responsibility for this collection and renamed, responsible for 16 years until 1982 but hopkins for the first time took responsibility for this library. it's an important public library but one of the newest libraries belonging to johns hopkins. we're proud to have had partnerships with others over the years , especially the library at enoch pratt library to be the kind of library it is. it's open every day, totally different from other types of public libraries so we will get books for you, you can use them here but it's like a research library in that sense but very important people know it is a library for people. one reason we were excited to be hosting this event tonight was that the whole subject of the library book is ofspecial interest because of the way in which this building was constructed . the archi
