disasters call for preparedness. disasters call for some sort of plan because people don't plan to fail. they just fail to plan. but the disaster i'm most concerned about is the disasters that the recreation and park department cause. man-made disasters and what are citizens to do when all of a sudden they find their most treasured recreational resources vetoed? that constitutes a disaster. equestrians living in san francisco have been through a political disaster, and i don't see the recreation and park department doing anything about it, or even having a table for them to crawl under. yes, it's pretty bad when the people that are supposed to protect you in a disaster are the ones causing the disaster. isn't that right megan? thank you for your comment -- thank you for your time and i hope you listen to my comments. >> is there anyone else who would like to make public comment on this item? seeing none public comment is closed. we're on item four, general public comment. at this time members of the public may addres

please have an emergency preparedness response for your household that does not include candles. and have enough water to last three days and this might be something you would automatically think of but have enough water for your pets, as well. luckily, my husband is working on that so at least one gallon per person per day for drinking and sanitation. we have radio, flashlight, water. it's simple to get yourself ready and the reason why it's so important for citizens to get prepared is because it helps our first responders stay focused on true emergencies during the storm period. if you're prepared at home, that helps us stay focused on protecting lives and property. as i say, now is the time to check. i was in there during the -- as we're listening, putting my list together of elderly relatives i need to check on. it's the time to check on elderly neighbors, relatives, sick, disabled. make sure they are prepared and if they can't prepare, please help them get to some place that is prepared. this is critically important beginning tonight through monday and tuesday, citizens shou

in terms of preparedness, we have emergency pipe yards, we have emergency stand by facilities, we have vendors who are on emergency stand by so those facilities, the material we might need, we have plenty of it and it's stored throughout the entire service territory. we have 3 major services, supply service chains, that are open and available to us 24/7 if we need them. we also have contractor arrangements, maybe it's pipeline welding or electrical service work, line man work, and we also have mutual service agreements and pg&e participates in those. we have sent folks to hawaii and we have sent folks back east and we have certainly sent folks to oregon and washington and idaho on a regular basis as we all in the west suffered through storms. so we have those activities in place and then of course we do just our normal emergency response activations on an on-going basis just to make sure everyone is trained and veilable and ready to go. in terms of the big 1 that we always talk about, we have an earthquake play book. the gas side and electric side has very specific actions to take, we
