this is the second phase of the presidio parkway project. get used to it, the current changes will be in effect for about a month. the merchant road exit has been realigned, so once drivers pass through the tunnel heading north on highway 101, it's important they pay attention to the orange sign that says the last exit in sf is 1000 feet, because soon after, cars wanting to exit before the golden gate bridge have to bear right. if not, drivers will be forced to cross over into marin county then pay 7 bucks to get back to san francisco. the construction project is transforming highways '1' and '101' - creating safety shoulders and a landscaped median between north and southbound 101. although this exit change is temporary, there will also be shifting roadway developments, alternate lane closures, and night work until the project is completed in 2016. reporting in san francisco alecia reid kron 4 news. a reminder for drivers in the north bay. starting tonight. highway 37 will see overnight closures between solano and sonoma counties. cal trans
