there are a number of firearm alarm boxes in presidio heights. each one is on a street corner and they're 4 feet tall. they do not obstruct anyone's view of anything, and we have street lights. clearly, none of these items belong underground. to imply that since we have fire boxes and street lights on street corners that entitled verizon to stick a wireless poll in front of a historic home designed by a famous architect follows no logic whatsoever. i have proposed another location which would not block views of any historic buildings just down the street. verizon, by their own admission on may 9, deciismissed it out hand while within range of their extended wireless service, it was not satisfactory to them. verizon's optimal location to maximize its coverage should not be the sole determinant as to where these units are placed. i think we all agree that the board has clearly stated the historical classification of the neighborhood, historic nature of our specific block, the public's enjoyment of the street views on the block and unique examples o

after being on the presidio, i saw military police, and that inspired me to actually want to join the military to become a military police because i thought they pretty much were community -- community involved-type policing, and i respected that. so my senior year, i joined the navy. i had more firearms training, received a ribbon for being a sharp shooter, learned about use of force and self-defense. i also drafted, reviewed, and edited standard operating procedures. i was a training officer for some time. later, during my tour in italy, our u.s.o. was bombed. five were killed, 18 wounded, including a woman sailor. i know my time is almost up, but i wanted to include also, i was in law enforcement for eight years, so i've seen both sides of -- of the scale. i've been on both sides, and i would like to end with a quote. this quote is from a vice chief in detroit who has come in compliance with their reforms who says, "we don't look at this process as the errand of journey, but more or less as a beginning. we're happy to end governmental oversight, but for the reforms and other course

there was a very serious car accident at park presidio and crossover drive, where there was three victims that needed to be extricated. there was one that went on for nearly two hours. and easily, the driver of the vehicle could have died. we personally witnessed the great care that every member extended. but we acknowledged the rescue captain because she ran the medical portion and really was at the patient's side the entire time. and as i said today, it was so serious that because we were having a difficult time extricating him, there was a consideration we do a field amputation with the surgical team coming from s.f. general. he has made a full recovery. both his legs are functions. it was appropriate that she be acknowledged today. and then we look forward to on friday capping off ems week with having a lunch. all of you are invited out at station 49 for all the members at station 49. anybody from the department really can come. we do have food coming later for the crews coming on later. they work 12-hour shifts and some will be coming later. we want to make sure we properly acknowled
