this is a look at the press conference that should begin any minute now. here is what we have learned so far. state and federal regulators have ranked the gas line that ruptured as high risk because it ran through a highly populated area we already knew one of the people who died in that blast was 44-year-old jacquelin greg who worked for the california public utilities commission. at the time of her death she was working on plans to upgrade another risky section of that same gas line 2 1/2 miles away. this new information raises several new questions of pg&e and federal regulators. we are working to get answers to those questions. we have new information tonight on the victims. investigators uncovered two more bodies in the rubble this afternoon. that brings the total number of people killed to six. nearly 60 others were injured and four are in critical condition tonight. the president sent his condolences today to the governor and we are waiting for this press conference to begin with federal regulators in san bruno. let's go to vicki wynn who was at the

let's talk about what we heard earlier this morning in a press briefing. that's what they announced a four deaths and injuries to -- rather 52 patients in the hospital. that was according to the county. that number could change in this conference. i see the acting governor walking to the microphone. let's take this press conference now. >> as we wind down the day and its been a long day for us, i want to start by saying that 24 hours ago we had a major explosion and a fire here. we are still at 37 destroyed homes, 7minor and moderate homes damaged. as of now we still have four deaths. law is still looking at the missing person reports to help us if are anymore deaths. we have done our preliminary search, that's complete. we still have a lot of work to do. there are still a lot of hazards at the site. we still have a lot of hot areas. we just came back. is still a lot of smoldering and in those cases we can't get the dogs into check. i still want everybody to know that as much as we want to let folks go back to their homes the area is still a very dangerous

attorney's office, we had a press office. they were in charge of issuing press releases. those press releases extolled the wonderful work we did as prosecutors and it was always headed by the name of the current u.s. attorney who was looking to become a judge. the public defender's office needs to understand, it seems to me, that they are competing in a more complicated world when it comes to the media that existed 10 years ago. if they were a corporation, public defender's offices would have to except they have an image problem. they have a great product that the public does not understand. it seems to me one question we could ask is how can we help the public defender's office get that message out? and it matters. this is not for ego gratification. it matters because you are publicly funded. when it comes down to your budgets, the public defender's office has got to rely on the same funding sources as the presence, prosecutors offices, the courts. as stakeholders at the public trough, it seems to me, through some sort of martyr complex -- which i respect -- that somehow
