he said it during the presser, not during the statement he was talking about how in the past there was a phenomenon where the fed would tighten and then you would get financial conditions tightening, and then there would be an impact on the economy that would stem from that and obviously there's some lag in there what's different now is that the market tightens front running what the fed is going to do. and the fed had already gotten there and maybe the fed talks and maybe the market has to go the next step, but we're having like -- we're having this really interesting thing where the two-year is leading the way, the fed is chasing it. it's a market expectation thing, but i think right now we're in a place where we've just digested 75 basis points after 75 basis points i think that's done. i think that's done. i understand we could be a 5.5%, ten-year it's possible. but i think what the fed really wants to do is not have all that tightening and then throw it out the window by being overly dovish and i think mission accomplished yesterday so, look, the market's not that bad right now. w

investors are having their chance to respond to what we heard in that presser from jay powell. specifically that we do see a smaller pace of rate hikes. the peak could be higher than what markets expect. that's what we are seeing the move we are seeing in bond yields being led higher by that front end of the curve. more rate sensitive through your real -- three year yield. this is a fight to rein in inflation, happening of course around the world. we heard this morning from the new zealand central bank governor talking about the scale of the economic shocks that new zealand is facing, their global economies, he says for new zealand to have kept rates are inflation and that 1-3 percent target range, they would've needed to predict the ukraine war back in early 2020. in terms of the other markets, we are seeing japan also looking for a lower start. also that strength returning into the dollar, kathleen. kathleen: it just goes hand-in-hand with what we saw in the u.s. today. the stock market falling. the worst day for the s&p 500 -- the worst fed meeting day since january of 2021.

a lot of anticipation around what jerome powell say in his presser later on today or rather wednesday in the the u.s.. . we are seeing that in the shorter duration yields, we have seen the aussie three year, more sensitive to one tracking what we have seen in treasury and the treasury is pricing for the interest rate hike for later. given we did have a lot of anticipation in the previous session, china could relax its covid zero policies and we start a big rally in energy, metals as well or energy, oil, metals, also in stocks, china listed stocks in china and asia. we do see the china futures pointing to a weaker start, otherwise, we are continuing to look for a fairly muted trade today, a smaller trading volumes and tracking what is happening in the bond space given what we do see in the unemployment remaining steady but wages are rising by the most on record. we are watching what happens with the fed later today. kathleen: 75 to 50, for other countries it is 25 back to 50. we look at the market, we do see a little bit of negativity, this is about flat. the 10-year note was 4.0 5%, p
