supervisor preston. >> supervisor preston: thank you, madam clerk. first, i'll be introducing a ban on certain he li ban on certain evictions during the state of emergency, and i want to say that the response to this has been overwhelmingly positive not just from tenants in our district but people all over the city who are concerned about the health crisis, whether or not they'll be able to pay the rent next month. the city and department of h l public health have issued recommendations, that these recommendations themselves may put many tenants in a situation where they'll lose income. we don't want folks in a situation where they're doing the right thing, following public guidelines, while they're losing income, we don't want them to lose their housing, as well. we're making sure that during this state of emergency that we are protecting public health and preventing transmission, and that avoiding unnecessary displacement and homelessness during that time is part of that. what this ordinance does is prohibit evictions during this state of emergency

i want to thank my colleagues preston ronen, walton and peskin and also supervisor mar of signing on as a co-sponsor and to the entire board for supporting unanimously the resolution last week which really this legislation builds on what we've already put forward in the resolution and really strengthens what we're asking for and the accountability around it. we've had support and i want to and all of our staff who have been working so hard on this according for her work. and leadership and at a basic level, we want to underscore we cannot wait until people get sick to move them into private rooms. just like we're doing for everyone else, we have to prevent people from getting sick in the first place by giving them the ability to stay physically and socially distant from others and protect themselves. our emergency legislation puts forward a preventative and commonsense strategy that wires the city to procure 8,250 hotel rooms which 730 workers of this crisis and 500 for medical quarantine per the advice of the d.p.h. director and 7,000 for homeless. we know we cannot be reactive. we

supervisor preston. >> submit. >> thank you. supervisor ronen. >> submit. >> supervisor safaye. >> thank you, madam clerk. i have two things to talk about today and the first is a resolution tharesolution i worke sfmta is the transit workers urging both party expose the pae agency to continue working together to prioritize muni safety and to develop additional policies that protect our operators during this time of crisis on the front lines, getting essential workers back and forth and other individuals around the city that need to be out during this time. i want to thank sfmta director jeff tumlin and roger morenko for working together. we came to an agreement this weekend to allow and made this public and we're boarding only with the exception of seniors and other persons with disabilities that need access through the front door, telling operators to enforce social distancing and to limit the number of passengers per bus. the union and the leadership will continue to work together to allow more operator discretion in these tim
