. >> we'll take you breaking news out of prince george country. firefighters on the scene of house fire in chillham marylan maryland. melanie alnwick is there with the latest. what can you tell us. >> the fire was out two hours ago and still an active scene here in chillham you can see knoll brook drive wall to wall with fire and rescue crews and the fire in the center there are fire crews still inside looking at the damage trying to figure out exactly what started this fire. welcome at the black marks coming from the windows. we're told when fire crews arrived he here there was heavy fire shutting out of these windows. we learned there were seven people inside the home. three of them were able to get out. one of them actually jumped from a second floor window. and that person was injured from the fall. of the three that got out, the other two were unharmed. but then again when firefighters got there we knew there were four other people trapped inside the home. the fire was so heavy that they actually had to run a hose in there hose line in there

i have not seen a massive response like this from fire and rescue not just from prince george county but support vehicles from other counties as well. we know that four occupants were trapped in the home. and they were pulled from the purposing house all critical injuries. also, the fire task force and ems task force were here at well. we're seeing additional units on the scene. we have not been able to get much information yet. i know they're still working to get updates for us why perhaps this fire was so intense and so bad and how it was these four people got trapped. we believe it is two adults and two children and don't have ages yet on that. i can tell you also, that we have see what could have been family member or someone who knew the people inside very distraught being comforted by other family members and members of law enforcement here as well. so, definitely a heart-breaking scene. we're hope toling get an update as far as the injuries and how those four people rescued pulled from this burning home are doing at this hour. we'll stay on top this story and bring it to you a

prince george's county firefighters are handling the scene. within about the last ten minutes or so we saw them extend that ladder into the apartment complex and now they have slowly been making their way out and you can see some of the folks who are on that ladder getting pulled out of there right now. that is some distance from where the ladder is extended to where the truck is actually parked right across the front courtyard there as that fire continues to burn in that top floor. there we go, we're zooming in now and you can see some of the firefighters making their way out and just behind them, you can see some of the embers falling off that top floor as that fire is raging there at the top floor, and i can tell you in the last few minutes as we have been watching this. we can tell that the fire is starting to spread back in the building. at first it was very much concentrated right at the front there and you can see it pouring out of the balcony and you can see some of the flames start pushing back and engulfing some of the back of the bu

she's in prince george's county tracking the commute there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, andre ya. i'm still keeping an eye -- andrea. i'm still keeping an eye on route 50 right where it meets new york avenue. this is a huge thoroughfare for people commuting from prince george's county into the district. with the federal government offices opening, you can see traffic is already picking up. i spent the morning talking to a number of drivers about the conditions here. they say so far so good. but it wasn't that way earlier this week. check out some of the video. this is shortly after blizzard 2016 left its mark. county officials say about 95% of the main roads now are passable. that means safe enough for you to move about with caution. i spoke with one person who compares to what we saw then and what we're seeing now. here's what he had to say. >> it was pretty bad. it was pretty bad. the lanes was going into one lane and you really couldn't turn here. so you just had to be careful, a lot of slick spots but if you're a good driver,
