megan pringle is talking about this on fridays.giving you problems. >> reporter: it's funny. we did talk about this friday morning. i went to the doctor later on in the morning, which i go every week now. there was a little bit of a mystery. i gained extreme amount of weight in a week talking 12 pounds in a week. they couldn't figure out if that was right and determined it's in your foot and leg. i'm doing to show you a picture, please don't judge me. it's disgusting. this is friday. they were giant. they were so fat and swollen, one leg was a lot more swollen than the other. the doctor was concerned. swelling is common, she was worried that this could be a blood clot, which is rare and can be fatal. we are getting test after test in the hospital. they are doing sonogram on my leg. it's just that i have bad circulation in my legs and there are things to do. one is move around and the other is buy stockings. this is another picture. less than 24 hours later, i bought these ugly socks and wore them for about 20 hours, took them off,

megan pringle has been learning this firsthand as she did over the weekend. joining us via skype to explain what happened. you talked about this friday. the images might be a bit disturbing. >> they are definitely disturbing. i apologized. i'm a little appalled that i'm sharing this with people. i go to the doctor every friday. it's routine. when i went there friday, they were alarmed about how much weight i gained in a week. they determined it was in my feet. look at the picture and see why. they were enormous. one leg was very, very swollen. the concern was, this is more than the common swelling that women experience during pregnancy because they have so much fluid and it's not moving as well as it used to. they were worried it could be preeclampsia or a blood clot. it was sluggish blood flow. there is an easy fix. that is compression socks, which i had heard were helpful but avoided it, maybe for vanity reasons. i bought some. as you can see, the swelling went down an incredible amount. that was less than a day, probably about 20 hours later. they are swol

megan pringle is live this morning and looking great under house arrest. >> reporter: oh, you are very sweet charlie, the check is in the mail. this is a cool program. today, it is the second phase. it kicks off today. now, the first phase began about a year ago. you know what? it is actually working. last year, city leaders said that we're going to focus on sleep related deaths for infants. unsafe leap environments. they started the campaign last year and those sort of deaths dropped 40%. so, city leaders said it is working it is time to move onto the second phase. that's where today comes in. so, they are going to do the second phase, that is aimed at reducing baby exposure to cigarette smoke. we know it is dangerous and about lengthy, but there is a new campaign. this is to help babies. they are going to have a vigil which will commemorate all of the infant deaths that happened in baltimore city. the health department is going to talk about the new campaign. show a public message that is aimed at mothers and fathers. because second hand smoke is a huge risk to baby's health as well.
