program. we have a huge problem in our city with cigarette litter. we found that through our litter audits that we have done, we have a higher rate of cigarette litter in our cities compared to other cities in canada. expanded again in 2010 to include needle disposal and i said in the other session, this is what i am escaping from in edmonton right now. yay, san francisco. so we have a snow angel program where we ask citizens to voluntarily shovel the snow off their neighbor's lawns. so these are all the programs offered by the capital city clean up program. we started in 2005 as part of the waste management branch and this past year in 2012 we were moved to the community standards branch which is where we are housed now. so we have a very strong link with our programs between the programs that we offer and the community standards or community bylaw ordinances that we're operating under. the lation that we focus in on is 14614, that is the bylaw that governs litter pick up in the city. communi

snacks program, the summer program is our biggest program and this is a program that provides lunches to children 18 and under when school is out because there's a big need, people don't have a place to get lunch during the summertime so we provide lunch at community based sites, to over 85 sites across the city and last year, we served around 200 thousand meals, over 200 thousand meals, we also collaborate with the school district to make sure that if they are able to take a place at a school site that we work closely with them so we're not duplicating service and that it's an effective program. i also present the food and fitness community, last year was my first year running the program and being on the food task force was a wonderful experience, not only did we start to think strategically how the program can include but collaborating with people like food runners and other agencies like the food bank to make sure we were avoiding waste as well and last year was my first year and i'm looking forward to continuing to run the program and i'm honored to be reappoint to the task force

i have individual program surveys that i do with all our programs. for example, the professional cleaning program, all of those people are contacted individually to determine how they felt the program worked. i'm a data junkie so any opportunity i have, we're really looking at that. we've done focus groups with the edmonton police service, the arts community, with school groups, various community service agencies to see what their responses to our programs, to see what other avenues we could pursue. so we have a lot of measures in place to evaluate each program area. >> as far as the city factor, do you track the square footage of graffiti removed and is that even beneficial? >> we have an estimate. we've been basing how much graffiti we've seen on thest estimates from the graffiti audit. we've take every operational department and again efts estimate it. that way we track all the graffiti in our individual program areas. i could tell you exactly how much graffiti was cleaned in a wipe out, in a professional cleaning program and then take the number
