, and the green business program. and my name is sueellen at tkinson and impart of the clean team and i manage the clean business ordinance. >> there we go. >> five years ago san francisco adopted the ordinance for the suitable transportation for the people commuting to and from the city. >> it requires employers with 20 or more employees nationwide to offer commuter benefit to all full and part time employees in san francisco. those commuter benefits could be as a pretax deduction and employer paid subsidy or a provided transportation program. >> the ordinance passed with strong support from the business community, and in a vote by the board of supervisors. over the past five years, we have engaged in very extensive out reach and education initiative including partnerships with the chamber of commerce. >> and these out reach in education, programs include our commuter benefits website and tabling events for both business and commuters and brochures, and free, one on one consultations with employers about our programs

and, again, i want this program. i want to take advantage of this program. and i want to live in san francisco. again, i want to thank mayor lee, supervisor mark farrell, sheriff's department, our sheriff ross mirkarimi, the union, the [speaker not understood] association, managers association msa, for everything, they come up with a plan to help first responders. and i believe that it's a god send gift program for us because we want to live in the city because we want to serve the city. this is where we belong. and again, as i said, i made my decision when former sheriff mike hennessy swore me as a peace officer. i decided this is where i belong. and, again, i want to thank [speaker not understood] san francisco and everybody for being here today. and again, it's a lot of work. ~ voters of san francisco and i hope that the mayor of housing department and also mark farrell, supervisor mark farrell has enough money to assist us all who want to live in san francisco. not just 10 people or five people or two people. i believe that everybody deserves a chance. t

they could move forward with a shell program and no other program, which as i said is only less than 4% of what we envision. so, but with that said, the reason that advocates have recently voted and said to the sfpuc and to lafco we would like them to proceed with these not to exceed rates is because they are now competitive with pg&e. especially if you compare it to a pg&e green rate. and what ms. malcolm proposed to us tonight are rates that will probably be even more competitive, even competitive with pg&e's brown power rate. the issue with the shell contract is that whether we like it or not, the local buildout that we all want is no longer tied to the small phase 1 part of the program. it's no longer tied to the shell contract. so, the reality is now that the shell contract is going to have competitive rates if the sfpuc sets competitive rates next week, now that it's going to have competitive rates, the advocates are not concerned that there is going to be a large opt out of the program. after the shell contract is underway, as long as there's no large opt out, that's when we s

they are going to talk about this program. let's give them some -- let's give them some relevant, strategic, targeted values or ideas. >> okay. so, i respect everybody's opinion. at this point in time, either we're crafting or we're dropping. so, i would like to say that, you know, towards the beginning of the statement that you were crafting, commissioner wald, i don't see there is necessarily a problem to say, you know, we will be monitoring or we have some concerns about the things that you mentioned. and then say the things that, you know, and then the list of things that came after that. i see no problem with saying that there are some -- you know, there are some concerns about some things. we are watching some things. we are evaluating some things because that gives us a foothold to come back to those things. if there is an issue in the future. so, i see no problem with that. what i'm asking everybody is u the next person that speaks, we are either crafting this thing or not ~. so, i say i like where commissioner wald's

shell contract is the program. it is not. the shell contract is 4%, less than 4% of the energy that will end up being provided under clean power sf after the next decade goes by. the shell contract is just priming the water pump, if you remember the old water pumps. and the idea here is that we need to use the renewable energy credits to make it cheap enough to compete with pg&e, to get that first small 30 megawatts out of the eventual hundreds of megawatts that we're going to build locally so that we can kick start the program successfully and still compete with pg&e. >> what was your type of concluding thought around? >>> so, here's the deal. ms. malcolm is getting us half of the goal. the thing that's going to get us to the green new deal and make sure that it happens right away is to show that the vision that you all saw from local power of about a billion dollar project over the next 10 years, that's what brings us the green new deal and the union jobs, so show that that can happen. sfpuc is making great progr

green 50% renewable program or our deep green renewable program, those are three choices, right now in san francisco, there is only one, we bring in revenue and we are solely funded through a revenue stream of rate payers, not tax payers, our rates are competitive and lower than pg&e rates for almost all customer classes, i have a joint comparison that we compared with pg&e and mailed out to all customers in our shared territory last month and i'm happy to share that with you all. >> thank you. >> we have contracted for power since our launch from 17 different supply contracts. many of these are to build new california based renewable supply. quite a few of which have launched just in the last six months, that's again new renewable energy supply being built to serve our customers in california, that's what's happening with our agency, we're creating new jobs and creating more renewable energy under the grid under long term 20 and 25 year contract, our most recent power supply contract is with cal time for sonoma produced geothermal pow e it has 578 employees in northern california and

not everyone will stay with the program. we don't expect that we'll have necessarily unanimous support from anybody to approve parts of the program. but we do know that there are san franciscans who welcome the ability to have clean power that is generated publically whether it's a combination of bundled power and recs. and the people that sign onto the program because we believe that moving forward on reducing greenhouse gas emissions is an important goal to do and important thing to do for the future of this city and future of california and we have to make our mark in that effort and there are many san franciscans who want to do that. today is a very important part of that process. we have an opposition that has come from p g and e and we have to make sure that this small group of people that try to influence what we do here today don't necessarily prevail that what we have to move forward knowing that we would face this kind of opposition in trying to approve our clean power sf program. this is one step of the process. w

we set up the program with exercise program, relaxation program, even how to make them more beautiful, make up. the group city for those cancer survivors is also -- the group's eddie for those cancer survivors is also very important. >> let's talk a little bit about the international dimension for the foundation. we understand that there is union for international cancer prevention, uicc. your foundation has been a member since 1997. 2003, i'm sorry. given the fact that you have been part of this international family, what are some of the activities and programs that you have been doing on the international level? >> uicc is now the biggest ngo under the world health organization. we are fortunate to become one of the members in 2003. we actively participate in all the activities. the biannual world cancer congress and also the highly publicized activities every year. >> before we end this part of the program, we understand that your foundation has an ongoing cooperation with the agriculture department division of the american institute in taiwan. can you tell us a little bit about th

one of things to keep in mind that has changed in this program, when the board approved this program in september of last year, it was 5% bucket 1. we're now talking about 25% bucket 1 in the current mix. that has gone up a lot. as ms. malcolm mentioned during her comments, the rest of it is coming from bucket 2 and bucket 3. you want to talk about confusing people, try explaining the difference between a bucket 2 and bucket 3 rec. it becomes a heck of a lot harder so we've done a lot to improve the program in that one aspect. there is a lot more of the bucket 1 and we're lowering the price. to talk about recs actually creating stuff, [speaker not understood] which has a cca program which has a good example of where a rec has come forward to help produce new localized renewable energy and a farm that had a choice between doing their own generation. fossil fuel or renewable small hydro project. ~ marin because recs existed, they were able to price it out in a way that allowed them to do the small hydro instead of relying on fossil fuels to generate their own electricity for their farm
