artillery officers become civil affairs, public affairs, kind of handing out pamphlets trying to to interact with the local population. i didn't want to do that. i would do something i was more meaningful. it doesn't have an intelligence officer. we decided we're going to create my forward observer team into intelligence section. as you go to the book it paid off. it made huge difference. it's kind of the peas that you think about police work and counterinsurgency. it is about police work. but for police, for every four police officers you have to detected. within the military you don't have that. you have nine guys per 800. that creates a problem for the dissemination of information and things of that nature. enough about myself and my background. the city of ramadi. ramadi is the capital of anbar province, about 400,000 people. is a very urban environment, very condensed. most of the houses are small forces. they have a court yard wall. it's an interesting dynamic. you'll see from the onset there is a marine who shot. but just getting that going back to the combat outpost which they had mo

you know, public affairs process that supports the president. here is an intergovernmental affairs office, which works with the, the mayors and governors, and they be the president in some circumstances will call a governor. asked the governor to lobby his or her members of congress. so yeah, there is a whole lot -- i don't think i would advise them to call the owner of the philadelphia eagles and talk about michael vick. but, there is a whole sort of set relationships that go beyond the narrow lane of white house affairs, but as part of a team, you hope that okay, it is all coming together and so folks on the outside are involved in that sort of, focused in on that goal. john. >> i have a similar question. is very probable scenario in the new congress and what kind of speaker john is going to be where the white house would almost marginalize him if he is not in control of these factions in the house with a tea party people, the incoming folks? and what they have to make those phonecalls, they may not call john and they might go to i don't know,

i'm the public affairs specialist for golden gate knack for it -- national recreation area, and we were requested to talk about our concessions operations. can you hear me ok? ok. the national parks service entered into a 10-year concession contract with a subsidiary of the ortega enterprises in the early 2009 after a competitive bid process. the contract emphasizes several elements beyond revenue and earnings. solid waste management, including 100% foods throughout composting, and reducing the amount of landfills -- excuse me -- reducing the amount of land fill that comes from that operation is part of the contract. as is sustainable purchasing, including purchasing of office equipment, and supplies for the gift shop, and energy. we also in the national park service have an emphasis on healthy and sustainable food and beverage services throughout the country. healthy parts, healthy people is a program that golden gate national recreation area is a forerunner of in the country -- healthy parks, healthy people. this was a major part of the contract as it was put out for bid. the mere wor
