from the very beginning, this whole transition of public housing and affordable housing was a good idea. but many, many residents didn't think it would ever actually happen. it's been a life changing experience. and i'm truly grateful for the whole initiative and all those that work on the whole sf initiative. they've done a wonderful job accommodating the residents, who for many years have lived in delap tated housing. now they have quality housing. i was on a street where the living room and the kitchen and stairs. it wasn't large enough to accommodate. the children are grown. i had the accomplish of having a dishwasher in my home. i really like that. [laughter] i really like not having to wash dishes by hand. we still do it from time to time. the mayor's office has been a real friend to us, a partner. we know that our city supports us. i love san francisco. just to be able to stay in my community and continue to help the residents who live here and continue to see my neighborhoods move into new housing, it's been a real joy. it's been a real joy. >> ladies and gentlemen, friends, dis

we never even had a shower in the public housing unit that i lived in.ort that we got from our facilities crew to actually make the kinds of repairs where we could live in a place that was safe and live in a place that was the way that it should be for any resident of this amazing city. it was important to me that we made a change in san francisco because the same conditions that i lived in are, sadly, some of the same conditions that still exist in public housing today. so we set down this course to try and make changes. no, we didn't have the resources completely to basically start all over from scratch, but we did have an opportunity through the r.a.d. program, the rental assistance demonstration program, to really make investments now so that we can change the conditions of where people live now. that was so important. there were people who were concerned, including the residents who were skeptical about whether or not what happened in the filmore would happen in the bayview hunters point community. i too was concerned about that. in fact, the public

all 775 units that exist in sunnydale, one of the largest developments of public housing in our city, wuone replacement. the mistake that happened at plaza east will not happen here. and we will continue to do everything we can to maintain that trust, to maintain that support, to listen to this community and continue to make the investments so that this is no longer a forgotten community but a thriving community of families, of people who are just growing and loving one another, and really moving our city forward in a positive direction. thank you all so much. with that -- you can clap. the first $80 million for public housing. then $100 million for low-income housing $50 million specifically in the mission district and $80 million for middle-income housing. and you can see in this table from the three issuances how that breaks down to the totals. the first bond issuances over 99% spent or incumbered and the second is over 64% spent or incumbered. both of those issuances will be fully expended by late 2020t. as a reminder unlike other geobonds, the city is not directly building any housing with this money. wrather we're making loans to individual homeowners. an update on our accomplishments so far from the first and second issuances, in the public housing category, construction is complete at block x. the building is now occupied. sunnidale parcel two is currently undergoing construction, expected to be completed in may of 2020. and we're working on infrastructure design for supporting 390 units at patrero and sunnidale. in the low-income housing category, construction is going on currently at 1296 shotwell,

housing. projects that are close to public transit. projects that can leverage additional funding whether through the state funding or other resources to leverage the city dollars that we are putting in. also projects that are located in neighborhoods with limited affordable housing. in terms of the preservation need. we know there are extremely low, low, and moderate households that are at risk of being displaced from the city. through our work, our small faith program and other preservation work it's really critical that we acquire and preserve existing affordable housing so we are keeping low income and middle income households in in san francisco. the bond would also go towards this need. we have an older stock of affordable housing that is in need of rehabilitation. the bond funding would go towards the need to rehab and existing stock of affordable housing that are in physical disrepair. $30 million for preservation under the bond would go towards the acquisition i rehab whether it is at risk, due to loss of affordability, or the
