so we've had a long road trip with the puc. that's why we've been troubled by some of the problems that have occurred recently in terms of electrical service upgrades. they cost us delay, space, and cost, as has already been mentioned. as you can image, we allow for school construction to be completed before school starts. what could we do when we had 350 students that could no longer attend their school because the project is not complete. the uncertainty about the electrical requirements causes a delay in the design process and causes us to worry about whether we can meet our own internal deadlines. just as an example as the inability to change schedules, where we first found out about these new requirements, we actually received approval for secondary service, which is what we had requested after we went out to bid. if we had not received that approval, we would have been slapped with a huge change order. the space issue is another big one for us. schools are generally filled to capacity. we can't afford to have low enrollme

puc is getting. you've stood up for the utility, but it's getting more vocal, and rightfully so. look, pg&e is headquartered in san francisco. it's part of northern california's legacy. i don't want to go back to the battle days when i first started out at supervisor. it was pitch warfare between the city, particularly the board of supervisors and we were repeatedly at the ballot. millions of dollars were spent by pg&e indefending public power fights and what have you. we actually reached accommodation. i want to send a message to the leadership of the utility that i don't want to be put in a position of going back to those days. i'm nonexpert on the fpa. i'm not an expert on tariffs. i'm not an expert on the inter-- agreement. you can work it out. you should do it expeditiously. it should be things ms. hale and you get in a room and figure out in a mature way in that i don't have to spend money on teresa mueller to litigate countless furk cases and what have you. this is the ominous threat, if you w

with the puc. so for highlights, public works has completed 48 street resurfacing contracts with four currently in construction, paved 1355 of the planned 1423 blocks at this stage. or 95% of the total. so as these four contracts are closed out, we will hit the goal and exceed it. the wiggle street scape and pedestrian improvement project reached completion this year and work on the irving street project as well as columbus, stockton and valeto was also completed. in june of this year, we'll complete the cnatown living alley. in september, the polk complete street project. and also in september, gary park pedestrian improvements and then e california laurel village street scape is expected to be. pa lieu, i believe the last of the street scape should advertise in june. this is a bit more detail on the street resurfacing. 48 projects have been substantially completed and four are currently under construction. one other thing to see on this slide, is thehart on the bottom right which again indicates
