and puerto rico statehood, you put it altogether. and to me what we're looking at is a raw eliminating of the electoral college, you're looking at a power grab, i've been doing this for 33 years, professor, i have never seen anything like this or as radical as this is in my lifetime. thoughts? >> well, what we're seeing is the lack of respect for institutions. the electoral college, you can argue for it or against it but it's in the constitution. the filibuster has been with us for a long time. it was introduced largely by democrats, southern democrats, but it was designed to make sure that the senate isn't just like the house of representatives and doesn't always get its way simply by a majority vote. look. if i could change things i would require 2/3 vote to nominate a justice to the supreme court. it's so important, i would want consensus, but you need a constitutional amendment for that. you have to respect institutions. our institutions have served us well for 200 and something years and the idea of radically changing it just to
