we've combined the requirements for the mobile food caterers, the trucks and pushcarts, and they now have, under one piece of legislation, one set of guidelines. so -- and specifically for the mobile food truck, this is going to significantly reduce the amount of their start-up application and fees, and it will be approximately the same for the pushcarts. the permitting, as i said, the authorizing permitting agency is the department of public works so they need to get their sign-off with the department of public health and fire, if necessary. the vendor -- so we did, through, again, the committee's recommendation of -- this is primarily for the pushcarts at six feet on sidewalks that there's a minimum of six feet and then it will be subject to the department of public works, if there's any other additional a.d.a. considerations that need to be dealt with, they will deal with the individual venture individually. the hours of operation are from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., so that this will allow for vendors to be near nighttime entertainment establishments if that should work out. a vendor

are out there that are operating illegally and part of that reason is is that -- let's say for a pushcart, a pushcart can be anywhere from $12,000 to $18,000, so if you're not going to be able to get a permitted space, individuals are not investing in it. so that was part of the reason for making the changes. though none of these mobile food vendors will be able to get a permit until the department of public health has signed off on them and they follow very strict state guidelines on what can be done with mobile food. >> i think it's a great idea. i'm just saying, you have to go through a lot of hoops if you have food at a fare and it doesn't seem like you have so many regulations when you see some of these guys on the corner selling hot dogs and i think it should be consistent, whatever it comes out to be, not one okay here and not okay there. president yee riley: thank you. any more public comment? dick-endrizzi. director dick-endrizzi: i want to express my appreciation to supervisor dufty and the planning department who put in a lot of time, in addition to our office, but in working w
