the thing with qualcomm as the same as last year, everybody associates qualcomm with apple.likes apple right now for good reason. it's not going to surprise me, and the numbers end up going down further, but qualcomm to me now is starting to get more interesting because they are going to report the quarter soon. and samsung is a big driver for their business. unlike the last cell phone, this cell phone, samsung is using the qualcomm basemans in all the products to start with. before as you may know, samsung has their own internal base fan, they were using that for part of the fs-3, the s-4, they are going 100% qualcomm to satisfy the issue with apple right now. qualcomm is somewhat mince understood where for they are right now. >> we'll look at the move on microsoft up 3%. it's breaking up. >> sandisk, doc, do you like it? >> sandisk and multiconductor are the two picks he mentioned i like. >>> the traders think now is the time to get out of sprint. we'll have a good bull versus bear debate when we come back. y ? we gave people a sticker and had them show us. we learned a lo

qualcomm expected earnings per share of $1.17, ca in at $1.17.xpected revenues on wall street of 6.09 billion, came in at 6.12 billion. remember, revenues have been missing with the quarterly reports and that upsets wall street. now, full-year guidance, it had been $4.25, $4.25 on qualcomm. the company raised the earnings they full-year guidance to $4.40, $4.55 per-share. meanwhile the third-quarter outlook in the middle o revenues, they say they will come in at $5.826.3 billion for the quarter and that would be3 gross of 25% to 36%. rather than growing at about a 30% clip for the past few quarters, qualcomm chip powering wireless devices for apple and microsoft and blackberry. this kind of an agnostic supplier to all of those, and that is letting this company really hum, adam. adam: i can quote shaspeare, earningsreports are stories told by idiots, signifying nothing. you know they manipulate numbers. dennis: thank yoa lot. adam: take a look at other big companies reporting today. ford and boeing impressed instors with their earnings, something

i want to get more on qualcomm's earnings.ortt just got off the phone with ceo paul jacobs and he's got the lowdown for us. over to you, jon. >> he had some comments relevant across the technology spectrum. he said that emerging markets, particularly china, especially strong in the quarter. a little stronger than he expected. north america, a little bit weak. similarly in europe, western europe, a little softer. he talked about the windows 8 business hae's trying to push into it. not performing any better than the low bar that they set. he's still hoping that they can make inroads there if people make better pcs with windows 8 that people may want to buy. interesting on emerging markets. speaks to a dynamic we saw in nokia. on the low end, he said there are a lot of low-end chinese brands who are using qualcomm's reference designs to break quickly into these emerging markets with low-cost phones. he said from the time they get the silicon to the time they're approved by carriers and only 60 days, more than 200 devices they're

qualcomm with windows 8 planned to take some share there. he said that that business is just meeting qualcomm's low expectations which is not saying a lot. here on the low end this was particularly interesting. he is saying they are in hundreds of devices. those device makers are turning around very quickly. about 60 days. you say he sees a huge variety of companies who are participating in that. not just the big names, though the big names are kind of strong. this is important for all the android players and apple as they try to sell the iphone 4 and those lower end devices into these markets, especially china. >> we have gotten a lot of movers in the afterhours session. also better than expected results. blowing through street estimates. let's take this first, tim. >> it's a name that i have bought around 23 on the way down. what i like about these numbers is not only have they affirmed and slightly improved but they kept 2013 capex. people are worried about the balance sheets of a lot of the companies. so i'm not telling you there is goin
