that was spun on its head with qualcomm.pple had no choice but to work with qualcomm because if they wanted to move to 5g, there was no other game in town other than the chipmaker from san diego. that was the start back in 2018 when they started working on this modem. development ramped up around 2020. they inquired intel's modem group in 2019 to really jumpstart that development. it is interesting because unlike the move to apple in-house processors in the mac and earbuds and smart watches and set-top boxes, the modem from qualcomm is best in class at this point. you are not going to bring better performance to the table. if you do, this is not something that can be noticed by the consumer. the vet is that this will save costs and maybe five years from now being able to shrink the modem down to an apple-sized chip to put it on the same motherboard and same soc as the existing apple components, maybe you can shrink down the internals of the phone to add other new features. it is a mix of cost now and hopefully new designs la

investors are hacking away, not chipping away, hacking away at qualcomm.nine and one-third percent. the semiconductor maker is one of the biggest losers on the nasdaq even though it reported a third quarter beat. shares are falling after ceo cautioned its most profitable business that be smartphones and handsets is making a slower than expected recovery. despite sales rising 12% year-over-year during the quarter, qualcomm warned that the handset world demand growth will be "flattish" this year. so, what does that mean for qualcomm's chip architect firm, that be arm holdings? shares of arm are also in trouble here down 16.7% that's the second-worst performer on the nasdaq. the chip design company also reported a first quarter fiscal year 2025 beat but you know washington is not about what have you done for me lately? what are you going to do? arm had a down beat guidance that sparked concerns on wall street maintaining its full year outlook of 3.8 billion to 4.1 billion in revenue but analysts were looking fo for 3.02 billion. ceo rene haas said it may take

qualcomm is down about 30% from its highs. that's a real good play here. microsoft has pulled back.there are places to buy in technology, and we think there are many other places in the broader market to buy, as well. >> you love financials, wells fargo, those kinds of names. so you think this is the good kind of yield curve disinversion and beyond yield declines? >> from 5% to 3%, good for financials. if you went from 3% to 0%, that would be bad. we don't think that's happening. we talkinged about financials a lot. this has been one of the best performing groups in the market, up over 40%, and it's outpaced some areas of technology. we still think there's more in the tank. >> kelly, i just want to ask both guests one question, which is, is the stock market whistling past the graveyard, or is the bond market heading prematurity for the bunker? by that i mean this -- if you look at the january 2025 fed funds contract, 125 built into january. go further out 2, 200 basis pois built in. so i'm putting words in the minds of the market, but do you see the fed cutting 200 basis points in t
