john henderson is our correspondent, john his live here on the news from quincy in northern california. an hour south of the town destroyed by that particular blaze. over to john peter, i am in quincy. this is the headquarters for the task force for the eastern section of this fire, the dixie fire. and that tells you how big it is. there is also a task force in charge of the western sector, and you can see behind me the plumes of smoke from the most recent increase in that fire, where it swept over that town of greenville that is greenville. behind us. let me bring in somebody, you can tell us a lot more about what happened. tim jones is a public information officer for this eastern sector. and let me ask you, just for starters, what happened in the past 24 hours over the last 24 hours. we've had explosive fire growth, driven by winds out of the west and south west meter and ologist have given a red flag warning where we have historically dry conditions. mo, humidity, low fuel moisture combined with those winds that drove the fire in their fire was fed by winds is over 60 kilometers an

we got the quincy fire to the north of the fires in northern california that will send smoke that way't expect these to really clean out our clear out shape or form in the tahoe area. any time too soon. you see all the smoke around the state. now more that on the way back to the smoke tracker showing a lot of that smoke filtering across the bay area and that's where skies turn come the milky white color outside for today. unfortunately for us it's going to stick around. in fact, you can see right there. boy, that smoke just wants to stick around through tomorrow. a good part of the day. maybe some let up in the north bay as we head toward tomorrow afternoon, but not going to be much that northerly component. the wind that remains in place as the clockwise right around the ridge of high pressure that is going to crank the all that smoke back into the bay area. so here we go. we're going to see smoky conditions out there around the bay area for tomorrow. it will be hazy. it will be hot triple digits inland as 101 a little more one-on-one and conquer 77 degrees downtown san francisco and

california reading. you're seeing a lot of the smoke filter your direction. shasta boy, just a mess up there, of course, for the quincy here. you've got smoke conditions there as well. but the bay area has been mostly spared from all of the smoke and we're getting more that on shore breeze that onshore wind is keeping your skies. pretty nice out there. mostly green out all around the bay area. and that's the way it is likely going to star. now we are going to notice some changes, though, coming our way. we get that nice fog that has moved on shore. and really that helps to freshen up the atmosphere, especially the lower levels, the upper levels. you don't get the fog and that's where we're going to see some of that smoke moving in. we saw some of that smoke building out from the some of those fires today, but kind of change in direction. remember, most of this is going in north easterly fashion. now you see moving back out west back out toward the ocean, which in some ways of some of the cleansing fashion. but not all that, all those take a small change. the wind direction, get a little more. no link above the wind an

see the quincy fire burning in that continues to be an issue with all that smoke developing in and around that area. they're going to see more of that sitting across parts of northern californiaor tomorrow. so far, most of that smoke and the blowing away. but something else to watch out for. we do have some red flag warnings that are going up starting tomorrow right around the quincy fire. and that is because of all the gusty winds expected to we've got a trough of low pressure coming in starting tomorrow. the downside of that is going to bring some winds maybe gusting over 35 miles per hour in and around the fire zone. a red flag warnings fire weather watches are going up. all the way through susan bill. so yes, something to watch out for firefighters like they haven't had enough already up there. now, though, the good news is the monsoon has come to an end. we are tracking low clouds and fog will moving in along the coastline. now and more that come into early tomorrow morning. that breeze has blown a bit to 25 miles an hour into fairfield and 16 in the power out right now. temperature wise big variety of numbers. some of that cool marine air has worked its way all the way

quincy and not a strong into susan bill, but you can see the colors there in red and brown. that's a red flag warning and a fire weather watch. but you can see much of northern california, including the bay area under those watches and warnings and that will be the case starting tomorrow night at 11 o'clock tomorrow night and that will continue right into wednesday morning as well. as far as smoke is concerned become a little bit of a break today. but i think tomorrow with that northerly flow going to kick in. i think we're going to see some of that smoke work its way back toward the bay area. the models start to pick up on that to you see the reds and the oranges begin to filter back into parts of the north bay and the east bay and that will continue in store tomorrow afternoon as well. so that's something we're watching out for. 2 is more smoke on the way as that system kind of rolls on through right now. we're kitchen enough of that sea breeze. and that is bringing the fog back on shore for tonight. i think as we head toward tomorrow afternoon. we'll start to see the skies clear out even along the coastline. but out there right now. they've got some patchy fog over
