sergio quintana joins us live from the medical center, with developments including the driver's prior arrest record. >> reporter: well, alexis garcia is the passenger who was thrown from the vehicle. she remains here at eden medical center. her friends and family tell us she suffered massive head injury. the friend behind the wheel of that suv she tonight is accused of felony dui and second degree murder. california highway patrol investigators say lauren davis was driving this kia suv when she lost control and it rolled several times. she was hurt in the crash and sent to the hospital but released this afternoon. >> transported her to jail where she was booked for felony dui and second degree murder. >> reporter: according to court documents this is the third dui arrest on her record. her first two were reduced to reckless driving. at the crash scene where 16-year-old violet campbell died there is a growing memorial. a witness said the car they were in rolled several times. >> by the time i noticed them they were rolling end over end. >> violet died on scene, she was partially thrown

nbc bay area sergio quintana live at oakland police headquarters and they are advertising the side show. >> reporter: they are not saying where they are going to be tonight but they are getting the word out in hopes of trying to convince some people just not to show up. police say these illegal events can be very dangerous. and the last few weeks bay area law enforcement agencies have been trying to crack down. last week officers chased motorcyclists across the bay before making five arrests. at another event a police officer was injured when he was hit by a fleeing participant. oakland police triggered tonight's surge after spotting social media advertising a large side show here. they're hoping to get the word out about the extra officers to scare participants off. >> they occasionally

nbc bay area sergio quintana is in san francisco with the details. >> reporter: according to the san mateo sheriff's department, burglars broke a window and made off with weapons. the car was parked on jones street. the thieves made off with serious fire power. >> the first is going to be a shot gun, 12 gage pump action blue steel with a brown stock. second firearm is a colt ar-4 black in color. >> reporter: that is a total of 800 bullets stolen. the deputy's bulletproof vest and the jacket with fbi on the back where also taken. it is not clear if the deputy was in the city as part of the investigation. our investigative unit examined bay area units which had reported 68 guns that were lost or stolen over a five year period. a new law took affect this year that closed a lap hole exempting law enforcement -- when he authored that law. now that new law does specifically remembrance pistols. it does not reference long rifles which were the type of weapons that were stolen this weekend. >>> thank you. a gun stolen from a federal agent that killed cakate steinl. last year prosecutors ende
