among them the parents of hersh goldberg-polin. his mom rachel spoke today. >> families have lived the last 39 days in slow motion torment. for 38 nights, none of us have slept the real sleep of the before. we all have third-degree burns on our souls. our hearts are bruised and seeping with misery. but the real souls suffering are those of the hostages. why is the world accepting that 240 human beings from almost 30 countries have been stolen and buried alive? >> hersh goldberg-polin, her son is 23 years old. that's him. he was attending the nova music festival with his friend honor shapira when hamas attacked. honor was killed inside that bomb shelter. hersh was shown in video we've shown before, which we should warn you is graphic. part of hersh's left arm was blown off by a grenade, thrown into a bomb shelter where he and as many as 28 other people were hiding. he was then loaded into the back of a pickup truck and is presumed to now be a hostage in gaza. well, we've since obtained new video of what happened outside that bomb shelter. evidence

one of the people in the group with the israeli families is -- was an american, rachel goldberg, her old son was taken hostage on october 7th. he was abducted from the music festival. rachel not only brought a big picture of her son, but she also brought a video showing how he was taken in the moments after the lower part of his left arm was blown off by a hand grenade. >> and i told him quickly because we had very limited time what happened to hersh on october 7th, and i quickly showed him the video of hersh getting loaded onto the pickup truck with his arm amputated. >> how did the pope react to that? >> he put his hand on his heart and he spoke in italian, which a lovely priest translated into english for me saying his heart is with me and breaks for me and that he was going to try to do everything that he could to help all of us have our loved ones returned. >> reporter: now, here in rome with rachel goldberg is her husband and hersh's father john poland. i asked both of them about this hostage release that we're all expecting in the next 24 hours, and they said even if hersh is n

my name is rachel and this is my son hersh goldberg, poland. he's my only son. he turned 23 on october 3rd and went to the music festival with his best friend from childhood to celebrate. when the massacre started on saturday morning, he and his friend and a bunch of other young people from that festival hid in a roadside bomb shelter, which came under attack. first time us threw in hand grenades, then they fired in the r p g. and then they sprayed the room with machine gun fire . most of those young kids were dead. but some of the lucky ones were trapped under the dead bodies. and they told us what they saw. person 2 other young men were wounded, but alive and how most came in and told them to stand up and come outside. when her stood up, they all told us that his left arm had been blown off from the elbow down. we have since seen a video that we have of him, and these 2 other boys being marched out of the bomb shelter and put onto a mazda pickup truck, which then headed toward garza, his last phone cell signal was at 10, 25 in the morning. october 7th, and tha
