rachel scott is tracking the race from the iowa capital. ning, rachel. >> reporter: george, good morning to you. we are entering that final stretch. the republican candidates will be flooding the state, making their final pitch to voters. of course, that includes the front runner in this race, former president donald trump, entering the new year still holding that commanding lead. 30 points ahead of his rivals in iowa, 50 points nationally. the former president clearly worried that his supporters might be getting complacent, urging them to turn out for him in just under two weeks. the rest of the field still hoping for a break through. florida governor ron desantis is betting big on iowa. he visited all of 99 counties in the state but he's been losing ground to nikki haley. she's neck and neck with him in iowa. she's already edging him out in new hampshire. the former u.n. ambassador has been playing cleanup the last several days playing cleanup after failing to mention the wor slavery when asked by a voter what caused the civil war. meanwhi
