rick: you move it into bigger mountains of snow. rachel: that's true. it's got to go someplace. bigger mountains of snow that are probably going to be there until about may or so when we get that melt eventually from those big piles that are going to be created. take a look at the weather maps, show you what i'm talking about. we saw 77 inches of show from this storm in orchard park. that's where the bills play. 73 inches in hamburg. lake erie, lake ontario saw is incredible amounts of snow. watertown the, 57 inches, and just to the south of watertown today is where we're going to continue to see a little bit more of that snow falling. water temperatures mt. great lakes have cooled considerably from this event because the future lake effect snow is going to be less intense. more to come today, though this is kind of the end of the system, another maybe 3-6 inches south of the buffalo area, and by tomorrow things clear out and complete digout begins. rachel, back to you inside. rachel: you know why i didn't happen? because i made a deal when i moved to wi

rachel: we're back with a fox news weather alert. at least two snowths in erie county, new york, as a massive storm paralyzes roads and airports in the region which is under a state of emergency. chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is tracking the system. rick: so amazing, rachel. we get a lot of lake effect snow, people in the buffalo area are used to it. but 66 inches in orchard park which is where the bills play, which is why the game got moved. we still have winter weather advisories and warnings, temperatures are really cold. 23 degrees in buffalo. it's also going to be the windy, so that snow on the ground is going to be blowing around and and causing visibility issues. now, it doesn't look like much when you look at this radar picture, you see that one little band of snow, that is what has caused all of this problem, and it's been with us for about 48 hours now. the main part of this was was to the south of buffalo. overnight it's moving in towards north of buffalo, and i think we get a little bit of a break for a lot of the day today. take a lo

snow? rick: 77 inches. you're 6 feet tall, actually, will's a little bit taller than that, that's like 70 inches -- will: 3 inches higher than me. rachelhich is absolutely incredible. you get a foot of snow, and you can barely walk any place. you have 7 feet of show, and there's not a lot you can do. water temperatures in the lakes have dropped around 5-6 degrees. that's good, the next system will have a rougher chance of getting energy that it needs to get kind of snow, but we still have some ahead today. today's really about the digout and tomorrow. by tomorrow all of the snow is over, but we've got one more day to get through, but this isn't as bad as it was. when you get the wind moving over the length of the lake, that's giving it the energy it needs. once it moves cross wise across the lake, it doesn't have as much distance to gather up that moisture to dump the snow like we've seen. not as much snow as this storm begins to wind down, but you notice the western side of the lower peninsula of michigan, we're also seeing maybe a foot, foot and a half of snow. take a look at the future track of this storm, syracuse, kind of between

snowed in in detroit today. madeleine rivera joins us live in buffalo madeleine, good morning. reporter: good morning rachelstorm may be over, but as you can see wind is still whipping snow up here creating snow drifts, and people here are facing some challenging conditions. i want to show you the roads here in south buffalo. you can sew right over here some of the main roads look they're messy and for the most part they are clear. but if you walk over here and turn corner we go from main street and turn over to the residential streets you can see over here it looks like it is barely been touched. and this is what local officials will be working on all morning. they'll be addressing these residential streets. they have about 90 to 100 pieces of large equipment. but crews are the only ones who have their work cut out for them. if you can take a look, those are actually cars hard to tell because they're buried under feet of snow so people here are going to have a hard time digging out this is heavy wet snow something that local officials have been warning people about. because they don't want people overexert
