. >>> good afternoon, i'm rachel weintra weintraub. i lead the lobby team of the coalition for sensible safeguards. this afternoon's panel will focus on deregulation in federal agencies, specifically what types of deregulatory efforts are happening at federal agencies right now, how are these efforts being undertaken and how can we, who believe in a regulatory system that protects workers, protects our environment, protects consumers, ensures safe food and safe products, for example, most effectively challenge these deregulatory efforts? our panelists include, and i cannot do justice to these panelists' amazing accomplishments, but i will very briefly just describe what they are currently doing, but it is an incredible honor to be on this panel with them. first professor lisa heinzerling, professor of law at georgetown university and expert in environmental and administrative law. bessey southerland, former director of science and technology in epa's office of water. and heidi shierholz, senior economist and director of policy at the e
