cbs 58's julie parise is live at the racine police department with the story. julie? harmon tells us the officers here at the department told her it was protocol to shoot her dog during a search warrant execution. but she says it was unnecessary..and she wants to know why it happened. this is sugar, she was a bulldog. around 5am last wednesday that police burst into her home investigating a november 15th report of shots fired.her son was being investigated for attempted murder. harmon's husband, who was home at the time, said police shot the dog while search the home. he believes sugar the dog was hiding from the police. harmon's son was released with no charges later that day.the family feels sugar was shot for no reason. everybody that came over everybody. i have 6 grandkids...and they all loved . her. racine police would not confirm specific details of the incident, but did say it is ?not protocol to shoot dogs in these situations. chief art howell did release a statement saying the department execut more than 100 search warrants a year, many involving dogs and "th

racine police are asking for help identifyig suspect... officials say he passed several counterfeit 100-dollar bills throughout the city. anybody who recognizes this man or might have more information is asked to call the racine police department. documents show milwaukee county paid 11 million dollars in pension payments to retirees last month. the payments were to make up for underpayments made to county employees who retired between 2001 and 2008. further payouts are expected to cost 6 million. county chairman theo lipscomb abele acted too slowly on the payments. abele says he is moving as quickly as possible and could only act once the i- r-s approved the repayment plan. the board will meet to discuss the issue tomorrow. winter parking regulations are now in effect.. milwaukee's department of public works says most residential streets will require alternate side night parking from december 1st through march 1st. but -- there are exceptions to the rule... d-p-w offers an email and text message alert system for when you can't park on eit

levi ruohonen appeared in racine county court this morning. was there. now out of custody, levi ruohonen appeared in street clothes and in court ruohonen waived a preliminary hearing this morning.... before entering three "not guilty" pleas. he's charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle... and one of o-w-i causing injury. in a criminal complaint... investigators allege ruohonen was drunk - and speeding - when he smashed into 39-year old kevin dalley's sedan on four mile road in caledonia. dalley was daughter emily. a second daughter - just six - was injured but survived. ruohonen's attorney didn't speak on camera following the hearing. saying only this is a tragic case. ruohonen is due back in court on january 27. in racine county pz tmj4 the wisconsin transportation and justice departments are launching new public service announcements warning about the dangers of driving while on prescription drugs. d-o-t reports 149 people were killed in drug-related crashes last year.that's a nearly 200- precent increase from the previous d

a developing story now out of racine county. a middle school couple is charged as adults, accused of making a kill list... according to a criminal complaint, 15-year-old jasminne piechocki and her boyfriend, 14-year- old darryl roeschen were talking on facebook. piechocki was naming people she wanted killed.her mother read the conversation and told school officials. the complaint states the stude the conversation, with piechocki saying she has a dark mind. roeschen told administrators he thought it was a joke and he never intended to kill anyone.the juveniles are being charged as adults and are currently being held in the racine county juvenile detention center. in wauwatosa -- one person is in custody after being accused of threatening the police department. but police say it's just one of five threats of violence made since monday. that's when it was announced that no charges will be filed against the officer who shot and killed jay anderson. will review the threat arrest in the coming days. a history of neglect: a woman accus

a racine sanitation worker is killed on the job. officials say mark gates was collecting recyclables on his route yesterday morning when a car crashed into his garbage truck. gates was flown to froedtert hospital where he later died. he was also the pastor at christ chapel in racine. church members say he did a lot for the community...
