this is what the radar looks like now. and you could track the storm with us at the palm of your hand, download our nbc bay area app. you could also track the traffic conditions as well. which is what i have here now. the traffic maps are up and so is the radar just behind it. we're starting to catch a couple of slow spots and i want to show you where the rain is really pounding right now. and that is in the north bay. you could see all of the mountain areas and the vegetation completely covered with that green which means it is either raining or the rain has passed and this is definitely going to be one of the areas that will see the majority of the downpours. i want to focus your attention toward the santa cruz mountains because it is going to get foggy up here. we know highway 17 definitely gets that pounding rain. especially at the summit. we have a reporter in the santa cruz mountains that will see the rain coming through in the next ten to 15 minutes for santa cruz. now right now the bay bridge is an absolute mess. m

we're still seeing snow on the radar. keep in mind, that winter weather advisory in place through tomorrow morning. it's going to be the toughest. overnight and into tomorrow, not the best driving conditions. a day break because we are expecting also a drop in temperatures. now, back here at home, we're in the 50s right now. it's not too bad. we've seen the milder temperatures as we've been waking up the past couple of days. 53 degrees right now for san jose. now, we get that cold front that's swept in and brought some light to moderate showers, and now we can see that we're still seeing plenty of stability out there. you can see some thunderstorms developing just off of the pacific. keep in mind that even though that rain that we saw earlier, that line of showers is now off in the monterey area off to the east and south. right off to the pacific, it's the same cold front. this is just behind the cold front. we're going to expect to see a couple of more showers and more rain to the bay area through tomorrow with the chanc

this was a quick burst last night with mill valley picking up .04, santa rosa .1 and right now on the radar and satellite we are closing in on the sierra and look at the coverage showing up with chain control in place on interstate 80 and 50. there is a little bit of green just offshore and to the north there is a chance we could have an isolated shower later this morning into the earlier afternoon. the highest chance would be in the north bay of santa rosa and sonoma as well as napa county. so watch out for that. currently 30s and 40s so you want to bundle up with the cooler air mass settling in and temperatures are partly cloudy skies with the upper 50s. partly cloudy skies and gusty wind. the plan for today is lower 40s to the lower 50s by 8:00 and then for the afternoon upper 50s to lower 60s. here is the cloud coverage with a chance of a shower later this afternoon. we will talk more about that coming up. now let's check in with sal updating the roadways. i have that memory of running into sal during a good ski day in tahoe. >> that is right, you were a snowboarder and i was skiing. ma
