for now, reporting live from the richmond-san rafael bridge. lena howland abc seven news lena. >> thank you. a 12 mile stretch of highway one is closed due to a slide. caltrans says it happened a couple miles north of the monterey san luis obispo county line. the slide is covering one of the lanes on a blind curve, and crews will be out in the morning to try and clear it. so for now. highway one is shut down between ragged point and gorda. several feet of snow expected in the sierra for today's storm last night. it was wet on the roads and chain controls were dropped on i-80 and highway 50. this is a big change from what it looked like earlier in the day. this storm is expected to last through this morning and that snow continuing until about noon. there are possibilities of chain controls being enacted and road closures, but caltrans says roadways are expected to be cleared by this afternoon, and you can track the storms using the same live doppler seven tools our weather team uses. download the abc seven bay area app for the latest forecast a

an inch and three quarters san rafael saint an inch and a half.santa rosa and yountville all over an inch. it has been a rainy week in yountville. i believe that's over six inches of rain for the week. terra linda inch and a half. napa almost an inch. sonoma 83/100 sfo 0.67. redwood city at 0.61. oakland 0.60. the city 0.58. san jose had 0.40. wind gusts were cranked up big time, turbocharged there anywhere from 37 to 85mph. fairfield 37, is no big deal. they get that in the summer, but pretty good there from pacifica, sfo, mount almanor i haven't had time to dig deep on the wind gusts, but i will now. still some lingering rain. a couple one hundredths to maybe a 10th of an inch could easily fall, but once we get to, i think late morning early afternoon, we'll start to get on the drier side here. still. winter storm warning until noon. maybe another 3 to 5in of snow. 40s on the temps. there's still a lot of moisture in the air. unless a north wind kicks in. i think there'll be too much for saturday, but either way, we'll start to see this moisture

in san rafael, the storm sewers were so overburdened it topped a manhole at a major intersection, making traffic difficult here. just south of sonoma, highways 121 and 116, a common flooding spot was so overburdened by the sonoma creek overrunning its banks, we saw tree limbs and logs literally crossing the impassable deep water. now, this home is a total loss and no one canxpience something like that and not have a blow to them financially. but the neighbors who also live in the neighborhood have to look at the fact that their homes are now less valuable simply because of this scar that's on the land. we see that very commonly where fires have occurred as well. reporting live. tom baker, ktvu, fox two news. >> and tom, is there concern that those neighbors should be maybe moving out of their house or certainly watching the rest of the system in the next system as they kind of determine what that slide has done to their stability. >> yeah. well, the advice would obviously be until, you know what the stability of the land is, it's not a wise idea to be in there. now, obviously, one piece

we are heading southbound on 101 just outside of the san rafael area. and i can tell you, we really have only seen some off and on sprinkles. if you take a live look at the roads from our perspective right now, you can see things are thankfully pretty clear at this moment. only a few sprinkles. so that is a good thing. while we did run into a heavy burst of rain in the east bay on our way over here, we haven't seen any severe conditions in the north bay just yet. now, further up north from where we are at, the sonoma county fire district told us yesterday that just in the last 72 hours, they had already done ten swift water rescues, including drivers and pedestrians across the area. they say despite putting up closed road signs and other posted messaging, people continue to ignore their warnings and drive through flooded roads. meantime, all eyes on a santa rosa hillside where a mudslide cascaded onto a home earlier this week, trapping robert boyd's family for a time until rescue crews arrived. he got a call from his wife. >> she was obviously panicking
