one of the stories to show you how the resistance works , comes from chicago and rahm emanuel was mayor at the time. he decided to close 50 public schools in a single day which caused tremendous havoc and harm to the children of chicago. i should say a lot of what he did was to benefit charter schools and that was part of the gentrification process. the city of chicago and 2016 lost 200,000 african-american citizens. neighborhoods were gentrified and charter schools were built where it would appeal to white middle-class families moving in that previously had been black neighborhoods. the intention to close 50 schools closing the last open enrollment high school in the heart of the black community and the civil rights leader mr. brown in my book led a group of allies and they pestered mayor emmanuel wherever he went and said save the school. they protested in conventional ways and he ignored them. than they had the idea and set up lawn chairs on the campus of the high school which is now been emptied out to do whatever he wanted to do, probably turn it into a charter school. they said we

it's very difficult to fight something as big as a market my suspicion is you'll remember rahm emanuel saying never waste a great crisis my suspicion is that the political forces will use this 1 event as an excuse to further artificially lower interest rates and make much more credit available my understanding is that the the feds are looking to increase the repo rate that is the overnight. lending availability so my suspicion is that the only tool the trump administration really has a vailable to it is further quantitative easing and further manipulation of already unreasonably low interest rates and now rick i mean is this the bottom of what we're seeing right now i mean it is monday the bottom of oil markets are going to go lower and really at the end of the day where the reap what the rebound look like . the markets are already disconnected from reality and truth is in the very near term as buffett famously says the market is a voting machine not a weighing machine you're playing on people's emotions and people's narrative and when people are panicked and i think people are panicke

today's hearing and the legislative proposals attached to it would make rahm emanuel proud. he once said you never want a serious crisis to go to waste. make no mistake, wells fargo has been in crisis mode for a while now. we'll hear more about the makings of that crisis today from our witnesses. they had a front row seat. they're a part of the problem in many respects. in that spirit, the democrats followed rahm emanuel's advice, and rolled out policy proposals that would do everything from expand the scope of authority to automatically downsize certain banks and from those proposals, it has complete lack of connection with evidence before us in the example of wells fargo. we found that with wells fargo, the problem wasn't the cfpb lacked certain authority. the problem was that the cfpb ignored a series of red flags at wa wells fargo. it was under richard cordray's leadership of the cfpb. we found it wasn't that wells fargo is too big to manage, the problem was it was deeply mismanaged. my colleagues on the other side of the aisle also have some ideas about the standards to
