i'm raj mathai. a lot happening on this wednesday evening here in town, down in la and at the white house. let's begin in the south bay. a gut wrenching story involving students at hollister high school. three classmates died in a car crash. the chp says they were among four people traveling on shore road in gilroy around 7:00 last night. their car veering into oncoming traffic and hitting another vehicle. three students died, but a fourth person survived and was rushed to a local hospital. paramedics also took the driver of the other car to the hospital. investigators are still trying to figure out what happened, why this car veered into the other lanes. the students identities have not been released, but word spread quickly at hollister high. when i got the news of this. at first we didn't have the ids yet, so once we got the ids, it was it was heartbreaking. you know, you go through that little bit of shock and then you're ultimately jumping into, okay, now we've got to help support our students,

janelle raj. the securities and exchange commission is forming a task force dedicated to cryptocurrency. it's aimed at developing a regulatory framework for crypto assets. the head of the tas force says it will solicit input from the industry, as well as hold public meetings. during the presidential campaign, president trump promised a crypto friendly administration for the nearly $4 trillion industry. new details tonight on a gunfire exchange involving the san jose police department. the police chief held a news conference today. he says around 1030 last night, two officers in street clothes were an in it were in an unmarked car in san jose when they came to a stop at the intersection of melbourne boulevard and mclaughlin avenue. two unknown suspects in a vehicle confronted them. the suspects indicated they were armed, so the officers pulled over and called for backup. that's when police say a suspect suddenly started shooting at the officer's car. an officer returned fire. the officers were not

phone-free new york raj joins us now.. >> thank you for having me. >> i thank you as a parent in new york for really making these efforts. do you think it will pass. >> i'm very hopeful i think this is a mainstream nonpartisan issue. ainsley, we have mental health crisis. and i think people are rapidly waking up to this. there is a study out just this morning. there is a huge difference between ideas of self-harm and depression and aggression. it's because of the phones. i'm a tech ceo. i founded a company, i sold it, love technology entrepreneurship. i'm a parent first. two teenage daughters, one in public school and one in private school. we can see it. we don't need these studies. we can see it. you go into a school. people in the lunchroom, you know, when we were kids, we were laughing and of course, it's tough being a kid and having to look at their screens and they are all hunched over like this. we need classrooms to be better but social interaction. >> ainsley: who is against this in new york. >> a lot of fair que
