trees are so saturated, there's so much rain, the heaviness of this is what's causing the failure of these things. >>> good evening. i'm raj mathai. at this hour, we are getting a much needed break in the rain. entire communities are fixing the damage and bracing for more storms. yep, more storms are coming. we've got a lot to get to. let's start on the coast. it got hammered. high surf causing flooding. one of the hardest hit spots, capitola. homes and businesses along the socal creek inundated with water. major damage to popular restaurants and all those colorful beachfront properties. it's not just property damage. this storm has turned deadly. in the north bay, a 2-year-old boy died. as we reported late last night, a redwood tree fell on this double-wide trailer in the town of occidental while the boy and his father were inside. today we've learned that the boy, aeon tocchini, that's the victim. we spoke to his mother about what happened. she didn't want to show her face on camera, but she did tell us she was walking toward the home as the tree started to split apart. >> and i saw the house. i saw the tree just snapped

raj mathai. a break in the rain for much of the afternoon. at this hour, there is actually more rain coming in for certain communities. a lot of people are assessing the damage and really just bracing for the next wave of storms this weekend. let's start in the north bay. people living near the russian river are on evacuation watch. they expect flood level stages tonight of the russian river at 33 feet. on the coast, high tides in pacifica. look at this here. you can see the waves crashing into the pier. there's currently a high surf warning, and you can see why. the waves are strong. there's also a flood watch in the area as well. frustration and desperation also setting in. some people have resorted to stealing sandbags. in san francisco, this coffee shop owner got sandbags after the shop flooded last weekend. he started out with 14. now he's down to 5. and what's worse, his daughter went to the beach to fill those bags herself. this storm has turned deadly for a family in sonoma county. a redwood tree came crashing down on their double-wide mobile
