. >> and i'm raj mathai. there's a crime scene near the hails dale shopping sent. nbc bay area ian cohl is in san mateo. what do we know at this hour? >> reporter: yeah, raj. we are about 3500 block of south el camino real and this shooting happened behind a chase bank and pet smart in the parking lot where police say is mostly used by residents in one of the many apartment complexes around here. it is unclear if the victim lived in the area. san mateo police say some of those residents heard gunshots and called 911 just before 7:00 tonight. they found a 31-year-old man shot multiple times. he was pronounced dead at the scene, then somehow police identified the suspect's car not far from here and began chasing it. we obtained video that show the two suspects being arrest. the police went to san mateo, 92 wus bound, northbound 101 and ended in san francisco. this was shot at market and octavia where the two men were stopped and arrested. >> thankfully there was not a lot of traffic and it didn't create a danger. given the nature of what they were doing it was necessa
