it is very large, impacting many areas, raleigh, north carolina getting in on some of the rain. and you can see some clouds starting to reach the southern portions of jersey and spreading through portions of maryland. we have storm surge and flooding rains and there is the threat with this storm system for some tornados. some of the outer rain bands could produce some tornados of some of the -- as some of the thunderstorms rotate. virginia beach is currently under a tornado watch. this watch is in affect until 11:00 a.m. this morning. we have another watch across the eastern portions of north carolina. that is in affect until 5:00 a.m. this morning. and there is currently a tornado warning across portions of north carolina. i do want to point out some tornados have touched down. one in beuford county and there was a preliminary report that there were injuries with that one. we will keep you updated on that. sustained winds at 90 miles an hour. the forecast track, not that many changes. we are still looking at rainfall across the outer banks. as we head to 9:00 a.m., so still six

raleigh, north carolina. they're talking about how hurricane irene has caused a number of downed trees in the outer lying areas, etch if you're not along the east coast, you are likely to feel the impact of hurricane irene in the form of gas prices. already they're going to be pushed higher, nearly 10% of the nation's oil refining capacity is in philadelphia, new jersey, delaware, all the areas that are going to be hit by hurricane irene, producing 1.35 million barrels per day. those refineries could be offline for several days because of this hurricane. barge routes are also being disrupted, combining hurricane irene and the upcoming holiday weekend, analysts predict that gas prices will rise 15 to 20 cents over the next couple of weeks. >>> we're continuing to watch hurricane irene. but there are other stories we're keeping close taps on. a powerful typhoon has battered the northern philippines. the heavy rains triggered landslides which killed two people. several others are missing. the storm is slowly moving toward taiwan with landfall possible on monday. >>> and a wildfire near yosemite national park. the

raleigh, you may see some power outages because you will see some high winds. and you generally find that that happens. but the brunt of the storm will hit around cape city look out. that area is at risk for the flooding. highway 12 has a history of washing out during any big storm. i this i we might expect that this time. we hope the storm will continue to weaken but we do certainly expect some adverse consequences from it. >> and obviously a beautiful state but a lot of more rural areas. are there people who may be waiting three days, five days, a week or more to get help if they need it. >> that is possible. it happened with other storms. i will say that utilities companies coordinate with one another. the co-op rat ifs, duke power, progress energy, dominion, have all come together. they are sending crews so where there is an outage they will address it as promptly as they can and that is a very dangerous job. so certainly we think about them and we thank them for all of their efforts. >> thank you, walter dalton. good luck to everybody there in north carolina. >> thank you, chris. >>> coming up next, we go the national hurricane center for the latest tracking on irene a
