at the bottom of the hour we can tell you that the gate to rancho laguna park is closed. once the sun comes up, authorities are expected to be back out here looking for suspects in the shooting and evidence of a possible marijuana grow in the rugged terrain. last night around 6:30, a police officer on foot found himself under fire near this reservoir. he returned fire. the officer only knew two people fired an assault rifle at him. the east bay police used the armored rescued vehicle to get the information to safety. he was not hurt. the search continued until around 10:00 last night to find the suspects. a helicopter in the sky and officers from five different law enforcement agencies including the contra costa sheriff's office and the highway patrol could not find anyone. authorities say it appears the officer may have come upon an illegal drug grow in the area. >> we have a history of this area in years past where we had marijuana grows. we actually have pictures a couple of years ago where we have armed guards on a grow operation. >> reporter: the search for evidence
