police in fremont pull a car out of a pond at rancho arroyo park. witnesses told police thaey saw the car go into the water last night with at least one person inside. these are pictures from the scene. a dive team was called to the scene to help with the recovery. a witness told police that they saw a man swimming away from the scene. police believe that was the only person in the car that crashed. they say the car was driving reckless before it went into the water. and it was closed over to rancho verde because of the standing water. and other creeks and tributaries overflowed their banks. there was one vehicle that they had to help assist to get out of the flooded roadway. we saw drivers trying to get the car out of the way without any success. we've seen drivers defy the road closure earlier this morning and drive right through the standing water. granted earlier this morning when there was more flooding in the roadway, the only vehicles we saw do that were trucks with a higher profile. but it's not a good idea and not recommended. it only takes a couple of inches of water to move a vehicle. in sonoma county there was a sig-alert issue for the road completely closed due to flooding. not uncommon for this intersection to flood like this and have road closures. there were several times last year and in previous winters when we saw a similar issue. the flash flood warning was from -- until 9:00 this morning. that has since expired but we are expecting on and off showers throughout the afternoon and some of the road
