this morning we are joined by supporters from three of the top candidates: senator rand paul, the son of ron paul, in bowling green kentucky. romney supporter and former congressman j.c. watts who is the surrogate for newt gingrich. he's in oklahoma city. senator paul, your dad obviously has a shot at winning iowa now. but the pollsters out there seem to think that rick santorum has really caught the momentum. he's been closing fast here in the last two days. they say if you measure just the last two days he's actually in second place. what do you think happened? i thought your dad was the darling of the evangelical christian vote which is such a big vote out there and a lot of conservatives. what's happening? >> well, i think if you look at it, we've had several frontrunners. we've had several people surge to the top. i think this is the best time to be surging to the top. ron paul has surged probably as much as anyone in the last two or three weeks and has been the frontrunner or near being the frontrunner in iowa. he's closing the gap in new hampshire. so i think he's surging at pr

rand paul says he was detained at an airport. white house is defending the tsa. spoke with senator paul earlier today. you decide. >> so you had a something with the tsa. what happened? >> i've been going to the airport pretty frequently since i was elected. most of the time i don't have any trouble. this morning i went through the screener, machine said there was a hot spot near my knee. i showed them my knee but they wanted to do a pat down exam. i would walk back to the screener. they said no, you get a pat-down or you don't fly. i said i would rather talk to the manager, but nobody there wanted to let me go back to the screener. this is a conversation we've been having with the tsa. i fought hard in the spring to have little kids go back through the casinoer, but i thought we were going to apply it to adults. bottom line in order to travel we need to have some dignity. we can have security with dignity but they need to two a better job. >> greta: did you were you detained at any point? >> i was detained. in one of those clear cubicals where they detain you. i

i also did want to ask rand paul, is social security entitlements. st supporters to not feel it is an entitlement because people pay into it. ron paul has said many times -- candy crowley on a cnn interview he intends not to cut social security and understands the need and one of the few people who stuck up for this thing all along. she needs to look a little bit deeper into his policies on that as far as wanting to cut these programs. as far as paying for that type of thing, she says by cutting the military -- allowing for these programs to continue. i wanted rand paul to talk a little bit more about the fact of allowing the younger people to opt into a program that would allow them to put their money privately. he also does talk about the corporate welfare, of which none of the other candidates or obama talked about, president obama. people do not understand ron paul's position. people think he will sit there idly and wait until somebody attacks america until the does anything, like our intelligence agencies and military will not do nothing or the n
