once again, i'm randi kaye. it is 7:00 on the east coast, 4:00 a.m. on the west. thanks so much for starting your morning with us. we are following breaking news this morning on the shooting death of a former navy s.e.a.l. known as the deadliest sniper in u.s. history. 38-year-old chris kyle was killed yesterday along with a second man at a gun range near ft. worth, texas. these are pictures of kyle taken from the security company he founded after leaving the navy. the gunman accused of killing kyle has been identified as eddie ray routh. he is in custody facing two counts of capital murder. earlier i spoke with one of kyle's friends, jason kos, about the man he called a war hero. >> he and a friend took a marine that was suffering from ptsd to a gun range to shoot and as a way that he always did giving back and, you know, it was certainly him taking his time to help, again, help war heroes. >> he had quite a reputation in the field as one of the most lethal snipers out there. how did he handle that? >> you know, he viewed, chris viewed it as his job and he was pr

"ac360's" randy kay was there, randy, a lot of time in court today focusing on the car she rented when she focused on alexander. what was the prosecution trying to prove with the line of questioning? explain what happened in court today. >> well, they went at her on this rental car, and really what they're trying to get at is premeditation. they're trying to show that she planned to murder travis alexander. so they tried to show when she went to the rental agency to rent the car, they offered her a red rental car. and she said no, i don't want to rent a red car because that attracts too many police officers. they also say she filled up three gas cans in california, so that when she did go to arizona, where she said she never went that there wouldn't be any record or receipt of her buying gasoline in arizona. and finally, they also showed that the license plate on the back of her rental car had been turned upside down. and the front license plate had actually been removed. so upside down, if anybody saw her car, maybe at travis alexander's house, they wouldn't have been able to give pol

randy and susie were traveling home from visiting a friend at a local hospital when randy experienced a health problem while driving which led to a devastating accident. randy and susie were very well-known and very well loved in the wichita community for more than 30 years. their care and compassion for those in difficult circumstances shaped how they lived their lives. randy had a special gift for connecting with those who were struggling. perhaps because he knew how difficult life could be. as a teenager, randy suffered a spinal injury which forced him to live as a quadriplegic. resolved to make his faith in jesus the core of his identity and not his physical disability, randy chose to invest his life in caring for others. shortly after high school, randy began to serve on the staff of young life, a christian organization that mentors and works with young people. his position at young life was a springboard to reaching a wider wichita community. over the years, randy became a counselor and a friend to countless pastors, community leaders, young adults and everyone else who was in n

randi kaye is off today. it's 10:00 on the east coast. 7:00 out west.irst, traveling in the northeast today could test anyone's patience. a winter storm is about to blast new england with up to a foot of snow in some places. meteorologist karen mcginnis is tracking the storm for us. karen, this is too much. i mean, three weekends in a row. >> it is too much. and folks in boston know this all too well because already this month they've seen 32 inches of snow this month alone. there's going to be a few more inches probably piled up on top of that. but the record was set back ten years ago, 2003. and they saw more than 41 inches in just one month. this area of low pressure, it begins to develop off the mid-atlantic coast. starts to pull away from the coast of the northeast. but on the back side of this, still enough cold air, still enough moisture to produce probably what will be two to four additional inches of snow/ice. probably because the local forecasters in boston and even some of the more global reports are indicating we could see maybe a couple of
