according to neighbors, the fbi and arlington police descended on the sought randolph street home around noon -- south randolph street home around noon carrying out a search warrant related to amine el khalifi's alleged botched terror plot. wearing mans and gloves agents focused -- masks and gloves agents focused their attention on the back of the home appearing to dig up parts of the backyard. at 1 point they put up a tarp to keep our cameras at bay as they searched the shed with dozens of what happened to be shoeboxes. it all left the neighbors here on edge. >> it's a little scary. it's kind of sad you don't know who your neighbors are anymore and these neighbors seem to be very nice. so that's what i'm going to say about that, but it is a little unsettling. >> reporter: while agents searched the property the people inside that home watched coming and going freely. neighbors describe them as an extended family perhaps two generations with small children. we don't know what connection, if any, they may have to el khalifi. we should tell you we did spot agents bringing some crates out of

roz. >> brian, we are on south randolph street. those agents are still here and as you said, that family of the folks who live in that home, possibly relatives, possibly associates of el khalifl. still in that home as the agents carry out their search. we have seen with metal detectors going over the ground area there and focusing on a shed in the back with a number of boxes they have been going through. now, according to the affidavit, at one point, a home here in arlington was a meeting spot for el khalifl back in january of 2011 where he met with folks and looked over weapons. what he believed to be weapons. ak47's and two resolvers. this may be why the fbi is looking through here and going through all of this house here in a very quiet neighborhood here in arlington with a fine tooth comb. nobody is in custody. nobody has been taken out, as we have seen, seems to be the family inside while the agents carry out their search. they seem to be winding down, but we are standing by and we'll report back when we get more information.
