randy gyllenhaal is live at 9th and washington with more on what happened there. >> reporter: criminal vandals striking again, targeting another frank rizzo memorial, this time the mural in south philadelphia. i just finished speaking with police, they tell me the vandals this time had mason jars full of white paint, it's 134rsplatterel over the ground. an officer was on patrol when he came in this parking lot where the frank rizzo mural is located. he found a number of kids with spray paint and other sorts of paint tagging this wall. there is anti-police graffiti, offensive messages as well as paint on rizzo's face plus rip david, that is likely a reference to david jones who was shot and killed by police earlier this year. much of the attention recently has been on the frank wrrizzo statue. yesterday vandals actually hit that statue, as well, spray painting the words black power on to the statue. one person was arrested in that case. in terms of this case here, this new one overnight in south philadelphia, police tell me at least one person is in custody, that officer was actually pa

randy gyllenhaal is live at 9th and washington. and this is the latest case in a string of similar vandalism. >> reporter: yeah, it happened again early this morning. police tell me they were on patrol in this area in italian market when the officer heard the sound of breaking glass. he got here to the mural, found a group of people wearing plas s masks and holding glass mason jars filled with white paint. police tell us that the suspects threw the jars of paint here into the mural of former mayor and police commissioner frank rizzo, including hateful violent anti-police messages. swellings words r.i.p. david, likely a reference to david jones who was shot and killed earlier this year. and this is not the first time the mural has been swraeeen van. one person is in custody, the officer chased the vandals down an alleyway. and earlier this week, the rizzo statue also vandalized, spray painted with the words black power. we spoke with some neighbors who say this is unacceptable. >> you know, they really are destroying a piece of art.
