federal aviation administrator randy babbitt recently appeared before a senate subcommittee to address new air safety regulation proposals. including one that would increase the flood experience required of commercial airline pilots. this hearing of the senate commerce subcommittee on aviation operations runs a little under two hours. >> we are going to call the meeting to order. we welcome today the honorable randy babbitt, the administrator of the federal aviation administration. we have held a number of hearings recently on the issue particularly of safety, and fatigued in related matters and this hearing is a hearing to discuss a wide range of issues with the administrator. mr. babbitt is going to be talking about what he has been involved then down at the faa. he is involved in the number of actions. shortly after he was sworn in as administrator of the faa he held a call to action meeting and that call to action meeting broadband where regional air carriers, pilots, pilots unions and many others to discuss and improve safety and to reduce risk. the call to action initiatives have
