nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is live near the base tonight. what's the reaction there? >> reporter: we were outside the entrance to the joint base mcguire. it has both a recruiting center and a number of reserve units so military families on base can absolutely relate to what is happening in tennessee. you can see this is the entrance. they are telling us no changes to security policy. obviously they are aware of the situation. the base here was actually upgraded security-wise a couple weeks ago because of a separate incident but right now, no changes to security are being made on the base. of course they do say the safety of the families on the base and everyone who works here is their number one priority. they are aware of the situation in tennessee. we also have been chatting with a few people who live near this community. this is a very heavily military community. we did just drop into a barbershop. a number of cadets and others were getting haircuts there. they are just becoming aware of this situation. obviously very upsetting because it appears at this point the
