nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is live in springfield to tell us exactly what happened in court. >> reporter: in just past 30 minutes or so that woman accused of stabbing an 8-year-old girl appeared before a judge in the district court in springfield. as they walked her outside she had no comment to our cameras. she's facing criminal attempted homicide charges and did not make a $250,000 bail. police say majeah bashir got into an argument last night with a neighbor and then used steak knife to stab the neighbor's young daughter just 8 years old. the girl was stabbed inning the right side of her head. police say other children actually saw it happen. they do say it's unclear if the girl was the intended target. appears the argument started over babysitting. here in court the suspect's mother came by and spoke with our cameras saying this is all a misunderstanding. >> it was a mistake. the mother, everyone, it was a mistake. she's not a criminal. >> i don't what you're arguing about, what you're fighting about, you got a baby in between, a baby in the midst and you pull a but knife out >> maje

randy gyllenhaal is live on the scene tonight.d its investigation. what are you learning? >> reporter: well, we're told that the ntsb will be sending three investigators here to upper darby to try to figure out what happened. right now on scene i can tell you that crews are working with heavy machinery to try to lift those derailed cars off of the tracks. this accident happening on a loop where trains turn around at the end of the line. then within the last few hours we can tell you that 69th street station back open to trains. septa trains up and running again at 69th street station. things getting back to normal just in time for rush hour. kadeer jenkins had a long day riding septa. >> it was very bad. >> reporter: today's train collision made him late for school. he and many others were rerouted and forced to take crowded buses instead. >> you talk about the train, what, a train crashed? >> reporter: the slow speed crash happened just outside the upper darby platform. three trains were involved. a total of seven cars derailed.

our live team coverage continues with randy gyllenhaal who joins us now with more. >> reporter: and the flag still flies at half-staff here across the state of delaware to honor sergeant steven floyd. and earlier today, at a graduation ceremony for new prison guards, floyd was given a posthumous promotion to lieutenant. floyd's family, including his son, steven floyd, jr. accepted a medal of valor from the department. that's the highest honor a prison guard can receive. corrections officials says floyd's death was a devastating loss, adding that floyd likely saved the lives of many others during the prison siege by preventing additional hostages from being taken by those inmates. at today's ceremony in addition to that medal of valor, dozens of other cadets took part in a graduation ceremony. they'll be sent to prisons and jails across the state of delaware. their families now firmly aware of the dangers they face. >> they are committed to the job. so i think they know the danger they're going to be in. so they're committed to doing the best they can do. >> be firm, be fair, be consiste
