raphael warnock is doing that work.pendent and private citizen, have been doing that work. but unfortunately, the republican ticket has no interest in doing the work for the people of georgia. >> a similar question, as i asked you before -- i mean, herschel walker is, despite all the missteps, despite all the lies that he has been caught in, the facts that prove he has never worked in law enforcement and so on and so forth -- he is still doing okay in the polls. what does that say about where georgians are in this moment, that someone like herschel walker can still be doing well despite all of the headwinds or all of the controversy he has created? >> georgia is a divided state. we are purple for a reason. we are half democratic, half republican. my race in 2018 was the difference of 1.4%. the victory that raphael warnock had a year and a half later -- i'm sorry, four years later -- that victory was 100,000 votes this is a very narrow margin state and because of that every vote counts. and that goes back to the original

the polling numbers shows that raphael warnock as the incumbent does seem to have a slight edge. did not show warnock with as much of a commanding lead but we did so show him with a slight edge. and so i think it shows that there are a lot of limitations to herschel walker, his campaign has struggled we know recently. and again, raphael warnock as the incumbent seems to be slightly ahead. but as we know, there are still 100 days until the election. >> i know you wrote about how some of biden's recent legislative winds could actually give democrats a boost in november. but there is a lot coming against them, right? the economy and abortion access among top issues foremost georgia voters. will it be enough? given the challenges that those issues are facing. >> i think our piece in just the general kind of political atmosphere shows that things can shift quickly. and again, with 100 days until the election. there is a lot that could happen. so right now, lately in the past couple of weeks. there has been a lot with democrats to celebrate. the bipartisan gun law. the chiefs and scien

stacey abrams, raphael warnock, they're georgia, which is very pivotal when it comes to the midtermsow it. they know that they're concerned about joe biden's poll numbers. and they, as a candidate, they should be concerned about it because my -- you know, i should have been more direct, possibly, and said he is a drag on the party, is a drag on candidates and looking back now, hindsight is 2020, maybe i should have asked her that. >> the chances, the percentage chance she would have answered the question. >> she and raphael warnock, it is hard to knock them, as you know, off of message. they have stayed on message. i asked her about herschel walker, she gave a very similar answer to that. and the problem for them is that the people in georgia, those candidates, whether you like them or not, whether you think they're suitable for office or not, they're doing something the people of georgia like because they're still in the running. they're neck and neck in the polling there, herschel walker is and the former president still has a very high approval rating in georgia where he tried to

now we've got this situation where raphael warnock could easily, easily get 51 -- maybe even 52% of theion, is there a chance that warnock's weak opponent could end up being sort of a pace car to help stacey abrams? i have a lot trouble believing that there's a lot of camp warnock voters out there. i suspect a lot of people voting for brian kemp might just leave herschel walker blank. but if we're not stages a strong, would he be able to pull stacey abrams over the line or could this still be a split race? >> absolutely. i think that cliff's point is incredibly apt. the idea that these polls are indicating trends that we are seeing in this moment -- and so, when we are thinking about the midterm elections, it is going to be a battle of the [inaudible] that's what we are looking at. if you are looking at an enthusiastic and determined democratic voting base that is enthusiastic about warnock, i don't see a world where that doesn't translate to the abrams race. but also, to the other exciting races that are on the ticket. talking about secretary of state, -- win and there are some excitin

if i do pick one i would pick georgia because senator raphael warnock was elected just two years ago, one of those two democratic seats in georgia that were elected in the special election in early january, the day before the insurrection on capitol hill. they both went democratic in georgia after biden carried georgia narrowly and they turn the senate very slightly blue. the vice president is on the road right now to breaking the all-time tie-breaking record for vice presidents. she will probably do that by the end of the year. those two seeds mattered enormously. senator warnock right now is ahead. a lot of people thought georgia would bounce back in a republican year, and maybe they still will, but in the senate race herschel walker, the republican nominee, well-known football star, has had some problems. i do not intend to go into individual scandals, i'm trying to avoid that, at least for this program. herschel walker is not as strong as some had expected him to be. he has been pushed throughout by former president trump. senate minority leader mitch mcconnell has severe doubts a

there is also a curious element of, potentially, racial cynicism here in that, obviously, raphael warnockirst african american senator ever elected in the state of georgia. and the fact that herschel walker is running means that, no matter who wins that race, georgia will have at least one black senator in the future, going forward. but beyond skin color, beyond epidermal concerns, there is virtually nothing that these men have in common. certainly not their level of qualification. and so it's a kind of dual cynicism, that is operating here. >> and i think it's also the case that warnock is just one of the most distinct and remarkable individuals who ever served in the u.s. senate, just in terms of his background and his bio and where he's he comes from and what he represents, in terms of the actual pasture from martin luther king and martin luther king junior's church -- a man who was born into poverty who is now a u.s. senator and an active pastor -- that, it's not just a kind of random democrats next to the name, a generic democrat. there is someone here who has a pretty remarkable set

we had the one out of georgia last week where raphael warnock beat herschel walker by ten points. you're seeing snapshots inside the states where some voters are starting to say, this candidate, now that he's been nominated, is too extreme compared to what i'm seeing on the democratic side. >> yeah, no doubt about it. of course, the "washington post" has written about this, republicans having concerns about their concerns of retaking the senate. this is what is important, and what i have to say, mika, is the most positive political climate for any party, republicans should be rolling up massive victories this fall, perhaps they will. i still think they're going to win in the house. but they're making it so much harder in the senate and in the governor races that aren't gerrymandered. that is, of course, only in the house. and you see it. the further you get away from the gerrymandered house races, the harder it becomes for democrats in these swing areas, where they should be rolling up huge numbers because joe biden is doing so poorly with voters, especially independent states. >>

a vote in georgia for raphael warnock is a vote for decline. a vote for john federman in pennsylvania is a vote for high energy prices. vote for tim ryan in ohio is a vote for high food prices. a vote for mark kelly and arizona is a vote to send more american jobs overseas. none of these people, none of them are moderate. they are in lockstep with biden and schumer. all current and future enablers of this unfolding american tragedy. they can try to redefine decline as success all they want but it's not going to work. americans like winning too much. today it became clearer than ever that biden only knows how to lose. that's the angle. joining me now as john ratcliffe, former trump director of national intel and victor davis hanson, hoover institution senior fellow. let's take these humiliations and that's what they are -- one by one. how could the white house not have foreseen that the chinese would completely dominate them with this readout? >> your lead in was spot on. the readout speaks volumes. according to the readout, joe biden told presi

thankfully raphael warnock was ahead by ten points in the polls there.u get to turnout, young people they did not show up at the polls. when it came to the primary. even putting it on our screen there, then you see that they represent only 4.1% of the vote. when you look at another key state like pennsylvania, we are to break down the numbers but it shows that we will campaign spend money on, young people are last. they are just not a priority. and so, these two things are helping a small group of people introduced policies that do not serve the masses. your thoughts, their, on what can be done about that? >> that is such a important point that you raise, tiffany. what i would say is, there's so much opportunity. so the young viewers are watching, know this, you are creating this new american majority. between the 2020 election in the 2024 election, 17 million young people will enter our electorate. the face of our lecture it will forever change. and so i want to encourage all young people, one understand that there is incredible distrust in the process.

herschel walker going up against the incumbent here, raphael warnock.lot. what he is saying is what's getting him in a little bit of trouble. take a listen. >> if we patrol the air, we go over to china, bad air. so, with china getting all the good air, their bad air got to move. so, it moves over to our good air space. and now we got to clean that back up. >> did you get that? what is goes on here? >> i miean, that is certainly a play on the old republican argument about climate change, if you fix climate in one country, it doesn't matter if other countries are still polluting, i think. but it is also a testament to the reality all of these races are, that candidates matter. candidate choices matter. yes, there are broader dynamics and, you know, inflation and all of these issues and midterms that are always bad for the president's party, but the candidates do also matter. we saw that in 2010. we saw that in 2012. year after year there are candidates who say things that cause problems. >> and the latest "atlanta journal-constitution" poll shows warnock

first we take you to georgia, that's where it would appear senator raphael warnock may have illegallyunds to pay for personal legal expenses related to a lawsuit when he was a pastor at ebenezer baptist church. a lot of caveats in that sentence -- if he did used campaign cash to pay for personal legal expenses, yes, it would be a pretty clear violation of federal campaign finance law. marc elias the infamous democratic party operative who also represents his campaign is calling the suit frivolous. in the keystone state of pennsylvania, there are reports that the lieutenant governor there john federman took a taxpayer-funded security detail on a family vacation to the jersey shore, all while -- wait for it -- publicly advocating for strict coronavirus lock downs. sound familiar? state police spending over $3500 for lodging and food for that trip to ocean city. the campaign said allegheny county where federman resides was not in a lockdown at the time of the trip. i should pass this along, there's a lot of grumbling in the commonwealth about his health status. as you probably know, he h

raphael warnock, the senator who is a democrat, versus herschel walker, the latest polls show warnock lead over walker but there's very little polling there. this is going to be a close contest. the question is, is walker ready for prime time, just yesterday's campaign announced an entire revamping of the strategic team around him, they realize, things aren't going quite as they had hoped. but brought them out beyond georgia, i want to show you here the senate map, these are friends of -- and here is something i think that's very important for folks to pay attention to. if you just look at the tossup races, or the lightly shaded pink and blue, the races, you've got nevada, arizona, wisconsin, pennsylvania, north carolina, and of course, georgia, one of the true tossup's, and new hampshire. these are your main races, and they are almost all playing on democratic turf, only north carolina of all of those states is a state that donald trump won in 2020 so while the political environment is bad for democrats, clearly, the senate map is not as bad as just the political environment may sugg

. >> charles: despite the satisfaction with the white house, raphael warnock taking $17.2 million inthat is a big lead over herschel walker. and time ryan's 9.1 million haul is well ahead of republican opponent j.d. vance. so why is this happening despite president biden's poll numbers that are plunging? joining me to discuss, democratic strategist crystal knight. anez, how do you explain it? >> well, i'm not sure that there's a strong correlation between fund rating numbers and victories. democrats did outraise republicans i believe in senate races in 2016. so increasingly when there's such a huge disconnect between essentially one section of the elite and in public and private across different sectors and the rest of the country, i wouldn't expect the fund-raising numbers to necessarily indicate something about where the electorate is. the best example is jeb bush who spent $130 million running for president and couldn't crack 3%. >> charles: another issue, crystal, i did some work on the abrams numbers versus kemp. he's significantly outraised her amongst georgia residents. in cal

you have candidates like raphael warnock in georgia, tim ryan in ohio running ahead of their competitorse points on herschel walker. seems like there's a lot of democrats running ahead of the president and hopefully we can have a good mid-term. >> martha: i want to pop these spaces up here. it's interesting from "the washington examiner," byron. six major incumbent presidents have had an interparty challenge when they went to run again. in all cases, the incumbent president prevailed in the nomination process, but then lost when they got to the general election. anything to extrapolate from there in 30 second, 40 seconds? >> well, primary challenges are incredibly damaging for a sitting president. it shows that his party is divided over him. and it's terribly damaging. there's a lot of pressure on joe biden. what jessica just said is interesting. we'll worry about biden later. let's hope we can get through the mid-terms as democrats. they're going to have to face the biden problem some time. >> martha: thanks so much, jessica and byron. great to be with both of you. so ukraine president

according to this poll, raphael warnock is leading his republican challenger herschel walker 46% to 43 that is within the margin of error. how much could these races impact each other? could herschel walker drag down brian kemp? >> we do not see this very often in georgia politics, or really anywhere these days. which is a split ticket dynamic. what we are seeing right now, is especially kemp supporters dropping away from republican herschel walker. either because of his, lies exaggerations, struggled on the campaign trail. right now, herschel walker is doing everything he can just to bring up biden, biden, biden. because biden's approval rating in georgia is just 36%. at the same, time senator warnock is trying to demonstrate his independently precedence, while also his report support for cory democratic policies and proposals. and his call for suspending the gas tax, capping the price of insulin, and other measures that he says will help the states economy, and the national economy, revive. >> renewing concerns about voter suppression, from the recently passed election laws there? >>
