eastern iowa are working together to reduce gun violence. cedar rapids police hosted a summit that included police chiefs from a half- dozen cities. the city has seen an increase in incidents in the last five years. in 2009, there were 17 shootings - including two homicides. that number jumped to 93 shootings in 2014, with eight homicides. kcrg-tv9's chris earl tells us how the group hopes to change things. the concerns of gun violence remains a component of everyday life in some parts of the country, even at times in eastern iowa. just last weekend, three separate shootings on the east side of cedar rapids didn't kill anyone -- but served as a reminder of the threat.
