that perception and influence reality help me break down the social construct i'm now joined by rashad robinson executive director of color of change thank you so much for coming on rashad thanks for having me so your organization color of change is actually trying to put cops off the air it's been on the air for quite a long time break down why this show is so problematic. you know this is a filtered sense of reality where we're they follow sort of this hero law enforcement figure and many of our law enforcement figures are heroes but it's a filtered reality where where you get to understand the law enforcement you you don't get to know the back story behind the perpetrators are the criminals the the bad guys are always wrong the cops are always correct and they only go into neighborhoods where that are poor so oftentimes black latino or poor white communities where they're shown this sort of filtered reality of what law enforcement looks like in this country you know our our theory here of color of change is this is part of the ongoing challenge with media and their depictions of people of co

now i want to welcome into this conversation two guests, rashad robinson, the executive director of color of change and craig birnbach prom portland oregon, he spent seven years in the heart of nascar country as wcsc in south carolina. craig, this whole idea, we talked about how winston cigarettes was removed some years ago as a sponsor for nascar because it was too controversial. now they're bringing in the n.r.a. from afar, it looks ridiculous, but how much does it mean to the average nascar fan that is sponsoring the event they go to. >> i don't think it means much who sponsors the event. people love drives and the sport. you mentioned winston leaving. winston was losing money. they didn't have as much money to put in a sponsor ship. you're talking about a sport that has other sponsor ships. many cars are chon so farred by alcohol. i think we could argue that alcohol kills plenty of americans. where's this as political. i see this as a sponsor looking to reach a group of people that agree with them or are open to their sponsor ship and you're looking at a sport or track. it's the track
