when we launched the effort two years ago, there were high expectations because rawls -- we are always looking forward to hearing from the senators and vice president and eventually president george bush. i think these lecture series held fulfilled everything we had hoped for an even more. i know that will continue tonight as we listen to our special lecturer, a great american will give us some insight into his experiences as majority leader of the senate. i don't know of many former senators who have had greater experiences since then. we're just talking about the fact after he left the senate and married a beautiful lady he has a son, he's had tremendous experience in ireland and he wears a lot nicer suits than he did when he was in the senate. this has certainly been a most worthwhile experience. i don't know the lecture we have had that is had more experience than this one has in terms of legislative and executive and judicial. he certainly has a tremendous record at every stop along his career. he won a come-from-behind election when he first got elected to the senate and one the
